Police arrest 27-year-old Nara woman over Kyoto murder

KYOTO —

Police have arrested a 27-year-old woman from Nara following the murder in Kyoto of a woman in her 20s, with whom they believe she was acquainted.

According to TV news reports, the deceased, who has been identified as Masumi Fukuda, was killed at her apartment after arriving home from work on July 21 some time after 1 a.m. Police say she was asphyxiated with a bath towel and that she had sustained several deep stab wounds to her chest. Given the violent nature of the crime, police say they are eager to talk to anyone who may have held a grudge against the girl.

The woman arrested by police is believed to have been dating a man who works at the same restaurant as Fukuda. Police said they are currently treating her as their prime suspect, as they believe the women may have become embroiled in a argument over the man.

They must have more evidence than a tenuous connection at best.

Actually, the information in the last paragrapg is incorrect. The police apprehended a woman who was a colleague of the victim, but they both worked as hostesses in elite kyabakura. They fought not over a date, but over regular client .

God. I hope I am never the acquainance of someone who gets murdered in this country.

Something MAJOR seems to be missing from this short article. If not, the police are insane.

"Sad. Fighting over a man who works at a restaurant?"

People who work in restaurants have no inherent value, in your book? Lovely.

I would advise all to withhold judgement until the trial starts. The woman denies the charges and no evidence has yet been produced. This case is quite similar to the Eniwa case (info available at my website).up in Hokkaido- a woman charged with murdering another out of jealousy. And the police know who the true perpetrator is. Sad, but true.
