diagnosed by Maeda in April last year as severely handicapped because of hearing difficulties in both ears but another doctor concluded in February that the patient did not suffer from such a disorder

Doctor's disagree with diagnoses all the time...Every single thing is investigated by the police....?

I wonder if they even have a ward / prefectural Medical Board which grants license's to practice Medicine... I guess simply Taking away his Medical credentials, so he can't practice medicine is a new concept...

Or is it straight to 72 hours of non-stop interrogating until the police can pin something on this 72 year old man or get him to admit he may have signed off on a diagnosis prematurely....

Everything a criminal law violation in this country...? only in japan....

Maybe the police are just getting even with doctors since they probably did not tell the police how to tell the difference between a doll and a human body.

I would imagine that in most countries, you would put the doctor up before a medical review board to look over his cases and see if there is any wrong doing, and if his license needs to be revoked. But I guess that is not how it works here in Japan. Do these people who get this diagnosis get some sort of state disability and was the doctor receiving a kickbacke? Then, I would imagine that would be considered a criminal offense, but in this case I would think that the medical community could "police" their own.

My friend in the insurance business says this is commonplace, and all the insurance companies know which clinics and hospitals are the dodgy ones.
