How many news you read about foreigners getting killed in other countries? Shit happens...grow up and face it. I have all sympathy for Lindsay. I want her killer to get arrested and punished. But that doesn't mean that I want all J Cops to leave everything and run after 1 killer! There are other crimes happening...they need to work on those. And, by Jove, you know, we foreigners keep them busy always. They have even declared 10 Million yen award, which is usually 1 to 3 million in a case for a regular case. Suspects photo is everywhere. What else exactly do you want them to do?
Last year couple of Filipino women were killed here. Those news were also in these forums. I don't recall any of these kind words! Rather some were even saying that those women got what they deserved! So you tell me...is this case getting more focus or not!

Read the Wikipedia....
David McNeill, a journalist with The Japan Times, has criticized some elements of the British press for their sensationalistic coverage of both murders, citing examples of its pandering to racial stereotypes and missing white woman syndrome.

> You guys are probably emotional because she was Caucasian....may be one of your kind or a kind you are comfortable with.
What a complete load of tripe. It's called compassion and humanity - qualities you seem to lack. Put yourself in the shoes of the Hawker family for just a moment and you may understand why they - and most people here - are asking questions about this utterly incompetent "investigation".
Well you may be a troublemaker with the cops in Japan, but almost all the rest of us are certainly not.
roughneck at 01:32 AM JST - 7th November
Well...the hawker family is buying the compassion alright...they hire publicity agency for that. Go to lindsayhawker.com and you will see that it is run by professional agency.
humblesamurai at 02:09 AM JST - 7th November
I wonder who is supplying and supporting him!!!
roughneck at 02:24 AM JST - 7th November
I am not supporting Ichihashi, and I am all up for Justice for the Hawkers. All I said, from the very beginning, that this case is becoming nothing but media circus. There are many more cases in Japan which are not getting any focus.

roughneck, the poor family's daughter was tortured and murdered. They have every right to hire whoever they want and to splash this story all over the world. 'Missing white woman syndrome' ?? Her body was found, it's not missing anymore. Discovered on the balcony of yet another spoilt Japanese boy who was never taught how to treat women.

BurakuminDes:
OK, so what do you suggest? Bring in the bobbies? Take the case to Scotland yard? What would the cops in your country do? Bring and torture the parents of the accuse?
Let me go slow here for you...it will help the comprehension...This is what I am saying
Lindsay was killed...very very sad
Hawker family.....sorry for their loss
J Cop...I want them to attend other cases too! Not all J policemen should go manhunt for 1 case.
Media...getting paid to keep focus on this, while people dying elsewhere doesn't seem to matter.

humblesamurai:
I don´t. Until proven otherwise, I say it is the same two people who were supplying and supporting him before... all his life, in fact. Occams Razor agrees.

The ever-omnipotent Roughneck said:
Don't worry old boy - judging by their startling success in this case so far, your wonderful police have only actually assigned one semi-retired, slightly senile ex-traffic cop to investigate - thus freeing up the resources of the other thousands of J-cops to sit around in the closed rooms of their Kobans playing cards and reading girlie mags!
Of course, a few more of them start running around to put on a good show whenever the evil Mr Hawker comes to Japan on one of his "PR tours". According to you, he's the publicity-seeking, self-promoting father who always causes trouble by asking awkward questions like "Aren't you supposed to have caught him by now?".
greensatindress at 06:54 PM JST - 8th November
I am the only one who thinks he just looks fatter. I don't see that much of a difference otherwise.
roughneck at 10:20 PM JST - 8th November
MagnusGarstin, God forbid, if someone in your family is victimized of some crime, I guess you will just wait for the cops to finish solving that one highly publicized case first, right.
All of those who are so critical about the J cops here, you all must be very expert and professional in crime investigation. Why not start a training centre for the J cops! All those TV shows from law and order to 24 can be in the curriculum, since they are soooo life like!
MagnusGarstin at 12:17 PM JST - 9th November
Roughneck, when you say:
If are seriously suggesting (as you certainly seem to be in all your previous posts on this topic) that the entire manpower and resources of the Japanese police force are being brought to bear on this single murder case, then I'm afraid that it puts your J-cops in an even worse light than before (if such a thing is possible).
Given the totally inept handling throughout and the absolutely pathetic lack of results so far, the only possibe excuse that could be presented by a J-cop apologist like yourself is that they are not allocating enough men and resources to the Hawker case.
You can't have your cake and eat it old boy.
moonbeams at 03:53 PM JST - 9th November
I just read in the news that the police have narrowed down to the area where Ichihashi was hiding.
Now imagine if none of these developments were made public. Best way to catch this would be to give him a false sense of security and get him at the net cafe. But now he's been tipped off. I really don't understand this..
MadokaKato at 11:58 AM JST - 10th November
Right now Ichihashi is humiliating the Japanese police. It's not that easy to hide in Japan, but somehow Ichihashi is getting lucky..
