The hat doesn't really suit him.

    Shouldn't be too long....

I highly doubt that.... You're talking about a police dept that's more worried about handing out bicycle parking Tickets, and chasing HS kids down on their bicycles for failure to signal or something stupid like that... Unless this guy turns himself in, you're not going to see him in police custody, this year..... If, at all... And I would bet the later...

And you have all these guys defending J-Clown Cops....

"This Is Japan, This Is Not America!"

Well you've certainly got yourself one screwed up police dept, that couldn't fight it's way out of a paper bag... So don't expect them to solve REAL with idiot boy training and tactics..

How long have they been looking for that kid who murder that Australian girl...? And they know exactly who he is...

Another point: If this guy (or his family) has a little money, there are countless yakuza willing to hide him, probably for life.

I doubt this too... Yakuza aren't into that kind of thing.... Matter of fact, they would probably take all his money, which judging by the way he's dressed, doesn't have much, then turn him in for some reward, or to earn some favor with the cops...

sigh this sux, killing someone for money?? i bet he was uneducated and couldn't get a job..what a poor murderer.

  • stormcrow at 02:16 PM JST - 3rd November

Such a sad and tragic story. One life for just a little money.

Wish the image was clearer. Quite honestly, I wouldn't recognize that guy (?) if he walked by me on the street. I agree with the previous poster's comment about the police ever being capable enough of apprehending this killer, and would suggest that people, especially young university gals far away from home, to always be very aware of their immediate environment concerning who and what's around them. Othewise, they're easy prey.

He looks like public enemy number one to me.

  • PepinGalarga at 04:23 PM JST - 3rd November

Looks like he's the kind of guy that does not have the resources to hide out for too long. Stupid enough to get filmed on an ATM camera??? Yakuza connections don't come easy in this country, and much less for a wanted man. It's just a matter of time.

@japaneseno... probably, but from 40 they all look kind of old and worn out compare to men from the west (except the many fat ones of course)... about the picture: he looks evil, no doubt. I want to see him hang as soon as possible...

  • illsayit at 08:28 PM JST - 3rd November

    he looks like my neighbour

  • northlondon at 08:29 PM JST - 3rd November

Let's see how long it takes the Japanese cops even when provided with a photo of the evil bastard. Look what happened with Ichihashi. This guy is mid-40's to late 60's. Poor picture quality (it's just an ATM camera) can make someone look older too. A big clue is his hands. They describe him as slim but he has huge old mitts. A construction worker or an ex-boxer would have hands like that. He could also appear older from his lifestyle. Possibly a chimpira or low-level gangster who has come across hard times. If he were a gangster then he probably has experience of killing people previously too. Forgive me for not sounding very Christian, but I'd like to see him paraded around town before being strung up in the town square.

Regardless of what you all think, I think he looks exactly like that guy they are looking for that killed that 21 YO student.

So he brutally murders a young woman to get her cash cards. Everyone, copy this vague photo (better than none) and if you see this bastard approach him from behind and put him in a head lock and take him down, call for help, ask someone to call the police. Allow this animal to breath but do not release the head lock, wait until police arrive. At least this is what i am going to do if i see this subhuman creature anywhere in Tokyo. C'mon folks we gotta stand together as one when it comes to finding justice for this poor girl whose life has been ripped out of her in a most gruesome way. And pray that we find him and deliver him to justice. Damn it i feel so upset reading news like this...

I don't know if that photo is enough or if the glasses and hat are part of a disguise. But I hope they catch the bum. Anybody know how many unsolved murders there are in Japan? Just curious.

and the man on that afternoon took out the remaining 20,000 yen or so from one of her accounts

I missed this I guess, but how did he get access to her accounts? I assume he either knew or guessed the password.

I missed this I guess, but how did he get access to her accounts?

Probably through Cheney-style enhanced interrogation techniques.

Would the murderer really be stupid enough to expose himself on candid camera and then go back to torch the crime scene?

It would be easy to pay some bum to withdraw the money.
