Failing to report what? That a kid had a bruised face and claimed to be hit by a parent or guardian? The school tried to follow up on it, but couldn't. That was not much ground for calling the cops. Have you never been hit by a parent or guardian? I have. Several times. And I am glad there was no over-reactive individuals around to get the cops and welfare services involved or I might have ground up in an orphanage for what was next to nothing.

Smoke the mother and the two male accomplices! No trial! Nothing! I don`t want my hard earned yen wasted on feeding these animals! The DEATH PENALTY ROCKS!

More of our money will be used to execute them, since you seem so worried about your money rather than say, civilized behavior.

Anytime abuse is suspected (the key word is "suspected") there is a duty to report it to the authorities. It is up to the cops to investigate it, not the school. Lots of screw ups on this case.

So, you were abused too! Does that make this instance OK? Did you ever get smacked in the face so hard by your parent/guardian you received a bruised face from it? That is abuse, plain and simple and should have been reported to the social services by the school staff and the child should have been removed from the home long before she became a victim of these monsters. We see this same situation over and over again in Japan and the kid all too often ends up dead at the hands of so-called adults.

And WELL worth it. I'll even chip in extra. Care to join them?

how sad, such beautiful children undergoing horrific torture. The saddest thing I've ever read about is the 'Concrete Girl'. 'Be ye kind', makes sense when you read things like this, who knows what people are going through?

Sad but true. I bet they get less than five years. But what I really don't understand about this article (and Japan) is how an article like this can be written without once mentioning the word "murder". I just don't believe it. How did the girl die? Was she abandoned to death?

ghetto people having ghetto babies The child grew up in a bad enviroment. It's sad. The school doesn't have the power to do anything except believe what the parents are saying. They have no real power
The police can't do anything. This is not america. There are no child protection laws that can take a child away from an abusive enviroment. This is not america.

Actually, Japanese TV has dug out older footage from when before the mom met her current boyfriend. At that time, she did go to kindergarten events, and both the kid and mom looked happy and healthy; very different from the recent pics that show her emanciated and aggressive. Clearly, the "family" dynamics changed with the boyfriend.
Again, I think the school has part of the responsibility to notice such things and take action.

Such Barbarians should hang immediately. There is no excuse or mercy. Hope that prosecutor will ask for death penalty. How disgusting.!!!

If the school thought that something fishy was going on, they should have insisted that the police investigate sooner. Wasn`t this child bruised up in January? But this is Japan and when you are told to believe something (even when you have doubts) people usually say Hai! bow and walk away. The school should have been far more pro-active in this case and demanded action earlier on. Very sad.

disgusting? why oh why are they not arreseted for "suspicion of murder"? rather than this stupid "abandoning a body" nonsense???
dennis0bauer at 03:21 PM JST - 27th April
if this was done regulary why did not someone report it?
