    rjdsr:

admitted to the allegation, saying he has posted child porn materials on Internet sites on several other occasions as well

A confession usually goes a long way toward conviction.

Do you have any proof to show us?

I sincerely hope the judge makes an example of this pervert.

Oops, sorry, lost my head for a moment. He'll get a suspended sentence because he has apologized and faced public humiliation. Japan isn't serious about stopping this crime.

Maybe he was driven to this perverted act by the boredom of having to stand watch over an ATM all day every day?

Well done USARonin. You have put the moral ragers in their place. They would not know impartiality if it kicked them in the shins.

I wonder if any of you have considered the idea that he was doing this to make money and not for his own enjoyment?

He confessed to posting the pictures. But the defendant does not get to define the pictures as child porn. The court will do that. If they are deemed not to be, then he will not be convicted.

But confession or no, the result would be much the same. A not guilty plea would not get him off the hook. --Cirroc

The incident was "regrettable". Who would have thought they'd have said that?!

  • techall at 09:36 AM JST - 3rd October

This debate is going nowhere. The story reads he admitted "he has posted child porn materials". these are either his words or bad reporting. Also please note that I said "usually" not always. Of course recanting a confession later would have an effect on the verdict however there are many documented cases in Japan where the judges deem that the original confession is still admissable. Whether this is just or not? Everybody here is entitled to his or her opinion and should be respected for that. It seems we have reached a point where nobody is willing to be dissuaded.

Maybe he doesn't like child porn, but posted them for another reason. It is a big news topic in Japan now. He's 25 and obviously doesn't like his job. He wants to get fired. Beats shooting himself in the head while on duty

Cop concerned must be vey ill and mentally disturbed. What makes him do such silly movements? Was it grid or he is just like 'Alice in Wonderland.' At 25, he just sealed his career for good and black mark by cops for good.

Anything? Anything to support your position?

I wonder if scumbags like this get the same treatment in Japanese jails as they would back home. That is, an icepick or something when let into the general population..

the most disturbing part of this article is that this cell phone site is accessed "tens of thousands times a day." That means, that in this country, there are at least 10,000 pedophiles on the streets.

the most disturbing part of this article is that this cell phone site is accessed "tens of thousands times a day." That means, that in this country, there are at least 10,000 pedophiles on the streets.

Slightly less disturbing how blatantly you misunderstand the internet, but post ridiculous conclusions with so much confidence.

For starters, a cell phone cannot be accessed like an internet server. He used the phone to upload the images to a server, and the server was accessed 10,000 times. It can and most likely was accessed from outside of Japan, and that could have even been a majority of hits.

Nexted, the number of hits in no way represents the number of people who visited the site. The same people register those hits with every visit, probably each time they go back to the front page (or home page), which is necessary to navigate many a site. And remember, nowhere does it say the site was nothing but child porn. It says five pics. Innocent users may not have even known they were there, among thousands of legal pics.

Lastly, some may have clicked there not for the child porn. The link might have said "Monster trucks". It can read whatever you want it to. --Cirroc
