Prison guard arrested for trying to burgle cop's house in Yamaguchi
YAMAGUCHI —
A 21-year-old prison guard from Kurokawa in Yamaguchi Prefecture, has been arrested for breaking and entering a 41-year-old policeman’s property on Sunday. The suspect, who, it is believed, did not know he was robbing a policeman’s house, is accused of illegally entering a storehouse on the policeman’s property in Hikari.
According to local media reports, the policeman returned home from work about 2:40 a.m. and caught a glimpse of the accused and took chase, losing sight of him once before picking up the trail again. Police say the officer reported the crime and the suspect was arrested a short time later. During police questioning, the prison guard was quoted as saying he was looking for money.

Warden or guard?? I'm guessing guard since he's a thievin 21 year old. What is it with people in authority thinking they can get away with crimes ranging from robbing and stealing to molestation and rape??

The number of stories of people in authority committing crimes just keeps going up and up. The Japanese police already have a reputation as bumbling clowns with guns and badges, stories of their crimes and other idiotic shenanigans are published almost daily here at JT. With more and more stories of prosecutors, judges, prison guards abusing their power or committing crime, seems like the brand of complete and utter idiocy usually reserved for the Japanese police is no longer confined to only one area of the justice system.

Japanese prison guards are scum anyway. A good deal of them do worse $hit to poeple on a daily bases than most of the prisoners.

Whilst reading this piece I was compelled to wonder that, although Japanese TV shows clips from America's stupidest criminals and such, security videos of ridiculous or somehow entertaining crimes abroad, one never sees the same on Japanese criminals. Those programs are fairly popular. Why do they not put the exploits of Japanese criminals on the show? Even with no video, a reenactment of a prison guard, of all people, breaking in the the home of a cop, of all people, would rival anything from the foreign crime episodes.I suspect the police will not release security videos to the public and that they furthermore wish to maintain the fiction of universal safety in Japan.
