KITAKYUSHU —
The fisheries ministry on Wednesday issued a correction order to a fish processing firm in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, which is suspected of falsely labeling processed goods of Chinese blowfish and angler as being domestically produced, ministry officials said.
The company, Etsuhiro, allegedly labeled blowfish from China as having originated in Kumamoto and Yamaguchi prefectures and used them for processed foods, while mislabeling Chinese angler as having been produced in Yamaguchi Prefecture for sale between March and June this year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

It's all business, Japanese importers buy from China and sell to japanese consumers at high prices. And most importantly nobody has fallen sick (gyoza? no, that was j-mystery/conspiracy) even after eating tons of Chinese Food.

No one has gotten sick from eating Chinese blowfish. But if and when that happens the victims isn't just going to get a sick.

Mislabeling, rather falsely labeling, seems to be endemic. Enforcement is lax, punishment soft, the thugs can have their way. Chances getting caught are so slim.
