It's nice to see Japan has such a high regard for the security of classified information! In some countries that last words a person like this would hear would be "ready .... aim .... FIRE!"
Wonder what would have happened if this guy was an NCO rather than an orifice. Seems to be like the old (and dying out) British tradition of one rule for the ORs and another rule for the Officer's Mess.
At the same time, however, it is important to note that the information was labelled "Confidential" rather than "Classified." Hope the guy in question was aware of the difference between these two terms. Moreover, it has to be recognized that sometimes leaks of "Confidential" information serve the greater good. For example, what would have been the more important issue if this was a nuclear-powered sub in difficulty, keeping a lid on it or discussing the fact that the waters around Japan could be contaminated?
I would say that there is some other issue with all this 'Barra, Barra.'
Someone must be told to keep mouth shut and put all under the carpet, and walk on it for few years.
Aww, come on, hes sorry he did it, that should mean everything goes away right. I mean if he is sincerely repentant, even murder should be excused right... Right?

I must agree with BBLeo on this one. This happened in May of 2005 over 3 years ago..why has it taken so long to go after this guy?
Is it possible this guy was holding (a secret) over someone elses head? Something just not right about this story.
