Saga woman arrested for forcing daughters into prostitution

A 35-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of breaking the Child Welfare Law, accused of forcing her daughters to meet men in hotels in Saga Prefecture and engage in indecent behavior. Two men have also been arrested for breaking child prostitution and child pornography laws, accused of paying the girls 10,000 yen each and engaging in indecent behavior, police said.

Police said the unemployed mother used a cell phone dating site to find the men and drove her daughters to meet them. She is accused of taking her elder daughter, now a first-year high school student, to a hotel on the night of Feb 11, and her younger daughter, a junior high school student, to another hotel on the night of Feb 22.

Police said Shinichi Hara, a 39-year-old truck driver, is accused of paying the elder daughter 10,000 yen to engage in indecent behavior on Feb 11, and Hirokazu Asau, a 34-year-old executive at an aquafarming business, is accused of paying the younger daughter the same amount for similar services on Feb 22. Both men have admitted to knowing the girls were under 18, police said.

Just 10,000 yen? Sickening.

Wow, that is just sad.

Moderators: I'm not sure that "services" is the best word choice in the second to last sentence above. Call it prostitution, an indecent act, or sexual assault--it isn't a "service."

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I have to agree with joseboss. Using the word "services" makes it sound like nothing was wrong with this sickening behaviour. But of course I do not want to tell JT how to do their job, with the services they provide. this really is a sick crime. I think some suspended sentences are on the way, as usual in the mickey mouse justice system.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

what kind of messed up mother is this??!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I think the "services" meaning here is an economic one, in the sense that the guys paid the girls in exchange for the "indecent acts."

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Prostitution is rightfully considered a "service" when it is consentual. However, here these were obviously minors and thus not legally capable of "consent" under the law. Thus, child prostitution by definition should never be referred to as "services."

I suppose that the mother’s name is not disclosed, so as to protect the identity of the children. Somewhat of an injustice though. It is a shame that neither of the men reported this to the police themselves, having learned that the girls were under aged before proceeding with their proclivities. Finally, it says prostitution and pornography, and indecent acts – so it seems that there should be photographic evidence. All three need jail time – no suspended sentences please.

Just 10,000 yen? Sickening.

so 20 000 yens wouldnt be "sickening" for you?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Is there a valid reason, other than shoddy reporting, why the guys' names are mentioned but not the mother who created this whole mess, and was arrested for it? I don't buy the argument that it being done to protect the children. They aren't exactly innocent anymore, either. One could argue that the guys' names should be withheld to protect all their family members too, yet that's not done.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I'm going to assume what Ginger means is that it's sickening that a mother would give up her daughters for such a tiny amount of money. I could understand (not permit! but understand) if the family was in dire straits and someone offered her 1m yen for a night with her daughter. But such a small amount of money reflects poorly on both the parent's love for their child and the disgusting person whose wallet it came out from.

Ladies and gentlemen, these are economically hard times for a lot of people. I would rather first sympathize before critisizing.

Yes - I agree, there could be a situation that justifies the mother's actions. But in this case - she drove them to the hotel - she didn't sell her car, or even herself.

Ladies and gentlemen, these are economically hard times for a lot of people. I would rather first sympathize before critisizing.

This sounds like a subtle justification for the mother's actions. Bad economy or not, what she did was wrong. I do sympathize for the kids, but not the mother because of her/their economic plight.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I understand Proffesor's sympathy. I'm sure if he lost his job and had kids he'd do the same thing. what responsible parent wouldn't?

Maybe her car is in a rather scrappy condition and she is not attractive. oO

Mum can't do it herself anymore so her girls are taking her replacement, to improve economy. Girls could also be blamed for their action. No one can force to what you do not want to do. Girls are heading to their disaster and they need a good shrink to explain to them the facts of life. Their mother should be behind the bars with hard labor.

I'm sure there are many responsible parents in Japan, but this kind of story is exactly why I fear for the future of Japan. Isolated incident or not, it seems like the last decade or two, more and more younger generation parents and kids of Japan have no damned respect for anybody including themselves.

Minors are protected by the law. Surely you can see that. Without knowing the whole story I think we can assume that the girls' lives have been irrevocably altered in twisted ways. Why make it worse by advertising who they are so that other people can 'condemn' their choices. You don't think people will look down on them? Just look at BBLeo's sad comment. Without knowing anything about these people BBLeo blithely assumes the worst of the girls. I'm sure that this person is not alone. There will be many people ready to condemn the children for the mother's actions.

It's quite sad really.

Wow, what a horrible person. I can be sure that if I were in similar financial straits pimping my daughters would be about the last possible thing I would think of to do.

What kind of mother treats her kids that way?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I love how double edge Japan's child laws are. Its okay to basically sexually exploit a child (ie: gravure modeling, idoling) but actual sexual acts is considered law breaking. My biggest issue with Johnny's & Associates back in the late 1990s, and even before then, was the exploitation of their acts by having 'onsen' and 'bath house' photoshoots, emphasizing the "BL" aspect of 14 - 18 year old boys.

Isn't the sexual exploitation of pre-teens and those under 18 also immoral and also simply feeding the problem of child rape and abuse?

I just read on Yahoo Japan news that the mother said she was trying to "make ends meet" for living costs. Another interesting point in the article is that although the children are saying "We weren't allowed to resist" their mother's orders, the mother took "a portion" of the 10,000yen that the men paid...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

So, did the mother teach their children, how to behave with the customers?

Or do we need to expect, that the daughters already had enough experience before?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Wow, what a horrible person. I can be sure that if I were in similar financial straits pimping my daughters would be about the last possible thing I would think of to do.

So you would do it none the less if there were no other options?

Why is this story such a surprise to people, its not new in any part of the world and particularly Asia. Of course does not make it right either.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Can we stop talking politics here? It is about how people find the easiest and less painful way of solving their problems. And some other just sit around judging them. Recession or not, start working hard. What I am a woman and come from a 3rd world country, asia, war and crime, belong to the minority group. Worked very hard and will keep on doing it. Do not have the life normal people have, missed out a lot of things in life, not forty yet but tired of life... so what do I do now, find the easiest way to make money?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

So you would do it none the less if there were no other options?

No, never.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

For a while I though that the 10something thousand yen per capita for vitalizing economy is just pocket money. But now I realized how much fun i can get for this money!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

so what do I do now, find the easiest way to make money?

Many many people suffer through poverty and come out the other end – without breaking laws, selling their daughters, etc. I would look for the best way to make money that does not leave you imprisoned – either physically, or mentally (with regrets).

I imagine this is the tip of the iceberg for what these little girls have gone through being raised by this woman. It takes an immense amount of heartlessness and savagery to value your own children so little so as to pimp them out to strangers -- bad economy or not. Remember, this is not a society of tyrants. Just yesterday there were dozens of posts in response to the 'miscarriage club' story stating how spoiled Japanese children are by parents. So when this sort of thing happens, you are dealing with a seriously screwed up mother. This is only one tragic event in these girls' childhoods that happened to be brought out in public. I cannot even fathom the terror, abuse and indifference these poor little girls must have had to face on a daily basis from their mother.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

No sympathy. Life without parole for the mother and the two men. Get these girls out of there and put them in a safe environment. Also pile on the social services (counselling, etc).

BigInJapan, I too am encouraged by the falling prices.

Moderator: Back on topic please.

Tahoochi the future? A lot of young girls in japan prostitute themselves to indulge themselves in their materialistic needs. This is nothing new.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

How is this any different than the old days when poor farmers would sell their daughters outright?

Although I can't fathom how a guy would knowingly go with an underage girl, for money.

I think the two guys should face the harshest penalty. Who knows what the mom's history was. Maybe her parents did the same to her when she was younger. Rules become fuzzy when the source of your basic necesities come into question.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Haha,,,yes thanks moderator..back on topic lads!

Come on people, even if you decide to be a stripper or walk the streets for money, no one expects a mum to be the instigator. The Mum is suppossed to be that last straw that may save a person from such degradation!

Some countries have solved this by legalising prostitution....

though still leaving the issue of age in this case....would it make prostitution OK as long as you are over 18?? its wrong either way.

The problem is that you do it once ,spend the money..then what? gotta do it again .and again. You become trapped in the vicious cycle and easy cash flow and thats where you go downhill rapidly.

To all u out there trying to sympathize with this sickening act I would like to say that of mr. And mrs. Buggerlugs couldn't make ends meet we would get a job at macdonalds or such, failing that mr. Buggerlugs would rather sell his kidney and liver than ever allow his kids to do this!! there is no justification!!

I'm not so sure Japan is so wise to switch to a jury system judging by the range of ignorant judgments being passed based on so little information...this is a JT story which often leaves more for the imagination than facts for the head.

Truly a tragic situation albeit all too familiar in today's world, the reason it makes news is that it happened in a modern developed society (which I'm betting is happening more than anyone would care to admit.) Punishment should be handed out...but let's face this is a very imperfect world...the same people calling for heads are inadvertently supporting the system that creates these tragedies

Should we also lock up the parents who allow/overlook their children to indulge in 援助交際(enjokousai), or how about drugs...what about parents who introduce their kids to drugs, or aid in their acquisition. Why not stop there how about those who force their kids to quit school and start a "normal" job...In a materialistic/capitalist society sex, good times and eventually tragedy sells (why else is this article here)...

As totalitarian as it sounds why not require a parent license, most of the world requires licenses to get married, drive a car, teach, practice medicine...(though it would never happen here where the government is begging women whom are of child bearing age to produce more children) ...I can't say it would stop these tragedies but it sure couldn't hurt improving these tragic situations

You're right, nothing new, but a lot of those screwed up young girls are runaways and derelicts, where the parents would not approve of them selling their bodies. Now we're looking at girls living at home and forced to sell their bodies BY THEIR PARENTS! Big difference, and if it's a trend, I worry about Japan's future.

I think it is time people in this country look at the definition of some of the important things in life of an individuals. To start with, family, mother, father, children, entertainment, living, relationships.... dating, faithfulness, trust.... Even animals follow certain rules and 'ethics' in their lives.. what is happening here is beyond comprehension.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Let's enforce a really old old old law for sexual misconduct...rubs hands together with an evil grin...wack the the tallywacker off and have done with it. BUAUHAUHAUHAUHA and why should the men be protected for commiting a crime by omitting their names...also revealing the parent's name would involve the girls' future...they were coerced, the men weren't...unless they only listen to their lust...and why do men have to get action in unusual ways...because the daily lifestyle of Japan for the majority is severely stressed out and easy to become morally unstable chasing after any kind of available release...all because everyone has to chase the yen and compete with the competion overloading work hours and no home time with family...welcome to the industrial and material age of greed.

tokyocrawler: Why is prostituion so "wrong"? I understand the underage aspect of this case, which is wrong, but what about of age prostituion?

Wow some more good parenting although this sick activity at least has a financial reward unlike the American mom who wanted her boyfriend to impregnate her daughter.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

not surprised

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Perhaps an appropriate punishment would be to send her to a soapland for a little unpaid customer bonus work. Line 'em up!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

First of all let me say I applaud the John who did the right thing and informed the police. You are rare Sir.

So the mother values her daughters at 10,000? No one should go to jail here. ... I think each of the guilty johns should have to wear a sign that says "I like the have sex with children!" for at least a year. They must wear the sign to work, to the bars, and wear it when they visit their own families.

As for the mother of these two children... Why oh why has nail pulling gone out of style? I figure one nail for each John her daughters had to sleep with. And she must pull her own nails. And her daughters should be sent to a good college. Her mother should pay for their college. I like ca1icocat's idea of "soapland" for the mother. I understand now what that term means.

It is quite sick for a parent to force their own children into prostitution, but I am sure that drugged out junkies from London to New York, from Rome to Los Angeles are no different. If you have a sicko for a parent, what else can you expect? I hope the government takes the girls away from this stupid woman in Saga prefecture.

i agree completely. there so many people sick people in Japan and outside of it. We have to be vigilant.
