Serial purse snatchers nabbed in Hachioji
TOKYO —
Two men were arrested Wednesday on suspicion of stealing 50,000 yen in cash from a woman in Hachioji City on April 4, and police believe the pair may be repeat offenders who have stolen around 8 million yen in total.
Police say the 45-year-old woman was riding her bicycle in Hachioji when the two men sped past on a stolen motorbike and snatched her purse containing the cash. Authorities are currently investigating around 80 further offenses the men are suspected of having committed.

I have noted most of the photos of women in Japan & they all seem to carry the purse with a sensible shoulder strap, but makers should also include some cable inside the leather strap, but then I guess that will be simply ripped off.
I have talked a number of women into carrying a mens wallet in their clothing that will carry the money, debit cards, DL or such other important plastic cards. That men's wallet can be carried in any jacket or such while all the normal womens stuff will be in the purse.
