Govt employees shud under no circumstances to just be able to give away assets, as I said before is the Finance ministry going to start handing out fistfulls of Y2000notes to staff as souvenirs, ditto barrels of oil/gas for transport ministry staff.

Whoever authorized the meat giveaway shud be fired

Let's see: The whalers stole whale meat from ICR. The victim, ICR, is conspiracing with the thieves. The whalers were going to sell the whale meat on the black market, although, according to Greenpeace, there is no market for whale meat in Japan.

Did I get that on right?

Ditt, completely meaningless report but there's nobody who's independent enough to give an unbiased assessment (government and whaling industry both have reasons to lie).

The ICR gives away tremendously expensive souvenirs to hardworking crew members... Hm. How peculiar.

Big surprise... when you have the people doing the culling and stealing lead the investigation, what the hell kind of result do you think you're going to get? It's like asking a politican and a contruction company owner to investigate their bid-rigging.

Green Peace may publish a book 'Who Stole My Whale Meat' !

Now I am suddenly curious as to how large the portion set aside for souvenirs was. Give us some figures. Tell us who authorized it too and who exactly got the meat. Like someone said, these operations are funded by the taxpayer and the latter does not approve of handing out souvenirs.

So, if the government funded a fishing boat, and that fishing boat let some of the crew members take home some fish, thats ok, but if they're taking home whale, now its stealing. Nice double standard. At least acknowledge your bias here.

  • presto345 at 06:44 PM JST - 19th July

Where does the fishing boat funding and the big IF come from, Molenir? Elaborate please. Don't let your fantasy run wild.

According to the report, Kyodo Senpaku Kaisha, Ltd, which is a private company purchased whale meat from ICR for distribution to their crew members. But of some reason we are supposed to believe GP when they say, without a shred of evidence, that the crew (or Kyodo Senpaku?) stole the meat, despite the alleged victim, ICR, denying this. Furthermore, the crew are selling this meat on a market that, according to GP, doesn't exist! I guess the deire to portray whalers as Bad People is so strong that certain people are willing to let all reason out of the window.

What else can we do than believe the investigative report from people who would not benefit at all from a cover up, right? It becomes especially interesting when we notice the choice of words they apparently thought it would prove their point: "maliciousness knows no bounds, zealotry clouded their judgment, absence of remorse, prosecutors pursue the strongest case". Wow, what eloquence, but secretly I think, 'Give me a break'.

presto, what exactly do you think has happened here? GP proves that KS's employees are receiving free whale meat by stealing a 23.5 kilo box of meat, and claim that it must have been stolen. The alleged vicitm, ICR, says that nothing has been stolen from them, it was all purchased legally by KS (a private company). I don't find that a particulary strange story, but of some reason you seem inclined to believe that ICR participated in theft from themselves, and that it was to be sold on some black market. Can you please explain what you find strange about ICR and KS's story, and what ICR's motive would be for stealing from themselves.

If you disagree with the decision, do you have proof that they stole it? Anti-whalers: Show the proof!

    Who would dare to disagree?

presto, what exactly do you think has happened here?

    I am baffled.

Can you please explain what you find strange about ICR and KS's story,

    These are not my words.
