Shrine parishioner suspected of wife's murder in Yamanashi

YAMANASHI —

A former shrine parishioner from Koshu in Yamanashi Prefecture has been arrested over the suspected murder of his wife last month, police said Saturday. Akihisa Takaishi, 57, was found guilty of corporate embezzlement last month after it was revealed that he illegally withdrew 200,000 yen from the shrine’s bank account in March of this year.

However, Fuji TV reported Saturday that his sentence has been suspended while police investigate the possibility of his involvement in the death of his wife Umeko, who was strangled to death at her home on the night of July 12. Takaishi has so far denied murdering his wife, police said.

suspended?? Hmmm, so this means the guy is on foot while the police investigate his "possible" involvement in the murder of this woman? unbelievable.

What happens if they find out he didn't kill his wife? Do the reverse the suspension of his original sentence? Oh, wait, that's not going to happen. Suspicion = guilt.
