I'm actually enjoying this drama which is unfolding.

It's amazing that a company as large as Sony hadn't had proper security audits done on their networks. Especially after having previously been the victim of hackers.

What's the difference between former LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling who made his comments on his private life that were taped with his comments about race that cost him to loose ownership of the Clippers and vilified as a racist, and the comments made by the COO of Sony on her comments about Obama? None, there were both private comments. The only issue is that the Sony COO made her comments on company email and Sterling made his comments in private. Using company emails, private companies don't have to protect your private rights. The Board of Directors could go into any email account and look at emails so though the COO has the right to have her private opinions, she should not be surprised that company emails were hacked and her comments put on display.
Let that be a lesson to all, be careful what you say on company emails.

Not to mention Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson!

Pascal, in my opinion, is welcome to her opinions, comments, or jokes. I would hope that most people would understand that her comments were made in jest.
However, Alpha, you do have a point, a person takes a risk when communicating over business or work channels.

Not in this day and age. This type of joking causes protests and boycotts.

I agree, but the difference between her and you and I is the people that she hangs around with. She may harbor some of those feelings and that is her right. Yet, she has the connections and funds to donate to groups like the Dems and other political groups that can extert influence on the average person, pushing her agenda on others, while at the same time not really believing in it. Thus, we get a classic example of "do as I say, not as I do." If anything, it is people like her that have done more to create the divisions in the USA that those on the right.
Pascal is what some would say in LA is a "West Side Liberal" in terms of she will say one thing, in this case support for Obama and race issues, yet do another thing and would make sure that you could not live next to her or would not really spend any time with you unless the cameras were around.
Again, she is entitled to her opinions, but then don't go out and try to get people elected to push a certain agenda all the while not fully believing in it.

Just imagine how a conservative would be brutally vilified in and by the media for any remarks like Pascal's! The difference? She and the others are Dem supporters. Cognitive dissonance anyone?

Ever heard of Donald Sterling? He is Democrat and was torn to shreds.
