Stalking judge to be sent to Diet impeachment court
TOKYO —
The Tokyo High Court on Friday reported to the Supreme Court that a 55-year-old judge, who was arrested for stalking a 20-year-old woman in May, should be tried at the Diet’s impeachment court, a spokesperson said Friday.
Yoshiharu Shimoyama, 55, who is a judge at the Utsunomiya Regional Court in Tochigi Prefecture, was arrested for allegedly stalking the victim who used to be one of his staff at the Kofu court in Yamanashi Prefecture. Prosecutors say Shimoyama sent 16 emails to her from February to March, asking what she was doing at home, if she had taken a bath, and what was she wearing.
The Supreme Court will set up an impeachment council where Shimoyama will be tried.

Is sending 16 emails within a month stalking?

knee-jerk reaction at most. While the judge is wrong in sending unsolicited emails, I think being reprimanded is enough. The judge like the girl and he sent emails but because he is a judge he does not want to divulge his identity so he sent anonymous emails...how different is that to normal love court relationship? In my opinion, the impeachment has something to do with his inability to perform his job properly (he has been reported sleeping while inside the courtroom and maybe some other acts and they just used this incident to nail the coffin). He should play sodoku
