Unagidon... do you seriously think the yaks don't get their cut?

I think a lot of people in here may be overlooking a key point, which is that Wakakirin is being a stand-up guy for his pusher. He very likely knows the man's name and/or nationality, but falls back on that acceptable generic term, "gaikokujin," knowing that police will probably assume that was all Wakakirin knew and have to settle for that description. Or it will at least buy the foreigner some time to flee to the hinterlands.

Haha! I posted a message a while back on one of these stories saying they'll claim they got it from a foreigner in Roppongi. Nice to see the old "it was the foreigner!" excuse is in action. Am assuming this will result in a suspended sentence for him.

    Bakakirin

The good, the bad and the doped? That is the impression I got reading through some of your posts. Actually, it was a given that Wakakirin was going to say something like this, because in the slightly stunted-mentality of the Japanese mass media, foreigner=dope, = pervert, = crazy gunman (remember the guy with the shotgun down in Nagasaki who the media claimed as foreign). Anyway, by fobbing this case off as an example of negative foreign impact on Japanese society, the society as a whole does not have to take a good hard look at itself.

it amazes me that the cops don't know what a blunt is.

  • Yelnats at 02:52 PM JST - 2nd February

No way would someone with half a brain use a cigar to load up with pot. Talk about making it harsh. Duh. He deserves to have a lobotomy.

  • dennis0bauer at 03:24 PM JST - 2nd February

Of course it was from a foreigner, if wakakirin says it was from a japanese yakuza, they would go to visit him.

  • BBLeo at 04:02 PM JST - 2nd February

Isn't that nice as he said: ...smoked marijuana regularly…, and than he changed his mind again and than again. He is driving cops around the circles that are in his brain. He will get his suspended sentence and we will wait until we hear about next 'Sumo' that is holding on to 'Plant of God' that will give him fame with publicity.

So, somebody in Japan has discovered the "Blunt". That is the name for the trick when somebody hollows out a cigar and stuffs it with weed.

ha ha ha ... i saw a picture on the news this morning of Wakakirin (whose real name is Shinichi Suzukawa, P.K.A.: "Japanese Notorious B.I.G.") in his street clothes. he he he ... ballcap to the side, huge gold rope chains swingin'from his neck, throwin'up his gang signs & swiggin' Moet. the dude is baller! too bad he cried like a little girl when he got pinched and tried to snitch like a little girl too. son was shook. ain't no such thing as half-way crooks.

The North Koreans, Triads, and Russians all work for the Yakuza?

UnagiDon, I can only imagine that either you have lived a very sheltered existence in Japan, or you have been here for about a month, or you don't live in Japan at all. If you didn't already know, the yakuza are an extremely rich and extremely powerful organisation involved in Japanese politics (most political scandals are set-up by the yakuza), the sex entertainment industry, the majority of construction projects in Japan, Japanese sumo etc etc. Their income and cash reserves are beyond comprehension and the finances are stashed away in Swiss bank accounts and invested with mob connections in the US. The Chinese Triads, the Korean mob and the Israeli mafia all have business in Japan but let me tell you, no-one can sell drugs on Japanese streets without licence from the yakuza. And they almost certainly will not allow these foreign gangs to sell drugs on the street, agreement or not, because of return pressure from their connected Japanese politicians and high-ranking Japanese police officers. So your assumption that North Korean (come on !), Chinese and Russian mafia just stroll into Japan and start selling drugs is a very uneducated assumption. The Japanese yakuza, even though we do not see them on the street, will not mess around if foreign gangs were ever stupid enough to think of selling drugs here.

    I reckon northlondon is right

  • Good_Jorb at 02:51 AM JST - 3rd February

Northlondon is right, as I always like to say the Yakuza are the most foriegn friendly group of people in Japan.

  • chubster2009 at 04:59 PM JST - 3rd February

If so who? If not who anyway? but lets give him the same treatment we gave those Russians. Why all the media over a little flower that makes you healthy, wealthy and wise. I say legalize the stuff and tax it. The Japanese would ruin the tobacco industry not to mention increase inflation and increase jobs by growing it just like the strawberries down the small town roads. Now they can have real Startbucks Coffee and all of them installed with security and private smoking rooms. Wow the economy has its answer!
