I've heard many a Japanese boast about the abundance of food varieties that exist in their culture, but nothing surpasses the number of sexual fetishes they have.

A strange charge, as well, as it depends solely upon what he was thinking. By that standard, anything could be a lewd act. I would have thought the obvious charge would something related to poisoning, or to false imprisonment (refusing to stop the taxi). Those are the serious aspects of the case.

I guess none of these women had boyfriends, husbands, fathers or anyone who would have taught this guy a lesson that he shouldn't be drugging women in his cab. There are numbers on the door and you can see the guys license. I guess the humiliation alone was enough for the women to report this guy..

Depending one what he was using as a diuretic this could have had severe consequences. Did the police follow up and check the medical records of the women for long-term kidney problems? A diuretic that acts within a few minutes is not mild, and if any of the women had kidney conditions, diabetes or a dozen other conditions this could have resulted in long-term damage to the kidneys.

This is most definitely not just a "lewd act", this is someone who used an unknown medication without sufficient medical expertise, without checking the patients for allergies or other complications, who then denied them access to safe and sanitary facilities, who restrained them against their will, and who failed to take them to a hospital or other medical facility afterwards.

I'm not sure precisely what the charges should be, but "committing a lewd act" seems like a slap on the wrist for something that may have permanently injured these women all so he could get a cheap thrill. If he doesn't see the inside of a prison cell for this then there is no justice in Japan.

I have accepted boiled sweets from cab drivers. I don't think this story will change that. If a cabbie refused to stop, I'd reach around that plastic and scratch his nose off.

Definitely he needs to be charged with poison and false imprisonment.

Actually the charge should escalate to dispensing medication without a license, attempted murder due to tha fact the person may have been allergic to the mdication. Diuretics can reduce the potassium level in the blood sending someone into cardiac arrest. What this man did is a serious crime and should be treated as such and not just as another sexual perversion.

Attempted murder requires intent to kill, and killing tissues doesn't count.

Weird. JT'ers who propose beating the guy or otherwise assaulting him are deluded. you would just end up being on the wrong side of the law and this bloke being seen as the victim in this weirdness.

"A Japanese taxi driver who got a sexual thrill out of watching women desperate to urinate has been arrested for allegedly feeding passengers snacks laced with diuretics"

I wonder is he permanently recorded in the Japanese judicial criminal system, with a lifetime arrest record?. This could equate to international travel restrictions for him. Food or drink spiking is illegal, whatever the intent in international law

good thing he did not use laxatives....

    wontond

I don't care if he was offering a free ride, why would anyone accept anything to eat from a taxi driver and not think it was strange. The fact that he was offering discounted fares should have raised suspicion.

Not to blame the victim, but who excepts food from a cab driver? Really?

Does anyone know which taxi company this guy is associated with?

In the Japanese social system, Japanese workers are never viewed as individuals. This guy completely abused his company. Be this as it may, since a company car was used, in Japanese society the company is obligated to be up front and apologize publicly for the "TORABURU" (trouble) that the member has inflicted on a member of the public. There is far too much that is not being reported in this "news" article. I wouldn't even call this journalism. It's more like "quickie daily transcription service" of the police's (?) routine announcements. I'm really tired of such low-quality "news". Where are the interviews that would provide more detail, such as how long the victims were held against their will, and whether or not they were dropped off at the location they originally ordered, or some other place?

Even If the cab is independently owned and operated, still the driver has besmirched his association's name and must really hate them. The public derserve to be informed what kind of relationship this driver has/had with his company and how much responsibility they accept for accepting this pervert into their organization.

I guess it's up to the police I decide how many minutes of trapping a customer in a taxi constitutes kidnapping. Clearly this driver entrapped a customer with the intention of inflicting humiliation, if not actually torment them. The intention to cause pain and videotape it (?) clearly makes this a crime of somesort, not just lewd behavior.

In fact, the detail that the victims are female are not particularly relevant -- I have to wonder if this detail is provided to help the newspapers get readers for this article. If deliberately using the pain and suffering of the victims to help sell newspapers, there should be charges filed against the news organization, it seems to me.

Oh god, why do some of you get your panties in a twist when someone suggests a little physical eduction is in order when these sickos deserves far worse. Ok, lets try this. We start by giving him only coffee to drink and providing him no toilet and no toilet paper. In-order to prevent this sicko from unzipping his pants when relieving himself, he's given a jump suit that zippers from the back with a lock attached. Japanese inmates are allowed to shower once every 4 days I think and while he's in the shower they can hose out his cell and provide him a fresh jumpsuit. This will do wonders for his rehabilitation as he will completely lose all sexual desire for urination and the dislike for feces is just an added bonus.

The crime section of Japanese newspapers introduce us some unimaginably pervert and weird acts that would be extremely unusual back home, of course crimes here are comparatively less violent .

Perversion is relative. Breaking the law and harming others is however, proof that one is a threat to society. I wonder if he'll do some time for this? I hope he does.

  • 2

Just lewd acts? How about kidnapping? When a customer demands to be let out and you refuse, that's kidnapping. And I'm sure there's a law in Japan about medicating someone without their permission. Lewd acts is the LEAST of this guy's crimes.

    Lowly

That is really a terrible thing to do, and tho I didn't realize it at first, after reading Frungy's post, possibly dangerous. But I have to confess, it made me laugh out loud. And, I mean, didn't he have problems picking up customers w/ a cab that smelled like pee? He must have been good a t cleaning.

I don't get it, why farmers?

After being in Japan so long and getting little gifts, often of food, in all sorts of situations, I don't think it would ever occur to me to refuse except when I just don't want to eat because I'm full.

"A Japanese taxi driver Toshihiko Nishi, 41, lured women into long rides in his cab" and "feeding passengers snacks laced with diuretics; bought through the Internet,"

"Police raided the man’s home found videos that Nishi said were from a security camera* inside the cab and showed around *50 women wetting themselves on his back seat; "I got excited by watching women trying to withstand the urge to urinate,”

    made in Japan....

Nishi has been arrested on suspicion of committing a lewd act, a police officer said.

Several Japanese-language news sources report that Nishi was arrested on suspicion of assault and unlawful confinement— boko to kankin no utagai (西利彦容疑者(41)を暴行と監禁の疑いで逮捕).

Apparently, he was an independent operator (個人タクシー運転手), not associated with a taxi company.

The world is filled with the sick, the strange and the bizarre. This is certainly one sick puppy. His feeding his female passengers diuretics for the purpose of watching them urinate, really constitutes sexual assault on a person. I don't believe that perversions are the sole domain of any one group of people; there are enough sickos to go around for the whole world to enjoy (LOL).
