TOCHIGI —
A 68-year-old taxi driver was stabbed in the chest and robbed of about 35,000 yen on Tuesday night in Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture, police said Wednesday.
Police said that a male passenger got in the taxi outside JR Utsunomiya station just after 6.30 p.m. and asked the driver to go to Nikko City. He told the driver to stop the car in the mountains of Kuriyama. The passenger then stabbed the driver and took about 35,000 yen from his money kit. He told the driver to let him drive, and drove the taxi back to Utsunomiya City, getting out of the car near JR Utsunomiya station.
The driver returned to his company’s office where his manager called police at about 9.40 p.m. The driver was taken to hospital but his injuries were not life threatening. Police said they are looking for a man about 30 years old, around 170 cm tall and who was wearing a black long-sleeve T-shirt.

this situation... was on the table last year... make it regulation to have plexiglass in middle and the driver control (has) locks with panic button....protection, then lock the wanker inside and drive to the koban, done...

this will be forgotten as soon as it is read by the general population. the time of plexiglassed taxicabs is soon arriving, say goodbye to fitting 4 (or 5) passengers into the car..

This poor taxi driver was earning his money in honest way. The 'BANDIDOS' didn't only rob his cash but also his life which will be changed for ever. Let justice be served according to the 'Law Of The Land.' Judge shouldn't be using mercy when sentencing.
