Teacher busted for drug use
KANAGAWA —
Police said Thursday they have arrested a Kanagawa Prefecture high school teacher on suspicion of drug use. Investigators say they found 90 syringes at the man’s home in addition to 30 plastic bags that possibly contained a narcotic substance, TV Asahi reported.
Under questioning, the 39-year-old teacher, identified as Kaoru Kinoshita, admitted to using drugs on a regular basis.

As much as I think the war on drugs is ridiculous, having a school teacher using drugs (possible while at school) is not acceptable. I am only assuming here, but if they went to his home, they probably suspected drug use based on his performance or behavior while on duty.

Not enough info to judge this person. I'll bet if they searched most people's homes they'd find a lot of un-teacher-like products. Drugs? Pah-lease!

Based on what a police officer explained once, you can be arrested for either and/or both. Being under the *influence *of a drug is enough for prosecution, depending on the circunstances.

She's finished...DUI are considered a incredibly irresponsible offense, so drug use will be more severe I believe. This is Japan, drugs are zero tolerance.

She? Kaoru is also a man's name. Same as Hitomi, Kaname and Megumi for example. The person in this article is identified as a male. Also, the zero tolerance thing is what's making the people go to extreme lengths to get their drugs no matter what. They arrest and prosecute people under the influence, not just buying or selling. Using is enough to get you thrown inside a prison cell for months or years on end. Marihuana is the same as Heroin according to Japanese law.
So yes, this is Japan, unfortunately, not Amsterdam. They are at least 80 million light years behind, perhaps?

Yeah. What worries me here is that a confession is irrelevant. The correct procedure is to send the stuff to the lab (plus a blood sample), get it tested, and THEN seal up the case my confirming that not only did he have possession, but was also a user. The J-cops seem entirely too reliant on confessions, which just prove they're good at brow-beating suspects, not good at constructing a case.

This time, maybe the J cops did the right thing. No place to have a junkie as a high school teacher or any teacher, I would not want my kids to go to school with junkies for teachers.

If you can not even handle teaching little kids in Japan, my guess is better to go over to Malaysia, with lots of smack and have a fun time in their prisons before getting executed.

Elbuda Mexicano, the report says he is 39. It looks like he was handling it for quite some time. So why the sudden breaking down of the door? I don't have a problem with people doing recreational drugs (alcohol included) if they can handle it. But I guess I believe in freedom a little more than some?

Who said he was a junkie? Rec drug use goes on with teachers all over the world - and in some cases, legally depending on the country.
