Strange thing to do due to feeling isolated. Surprised this didn't happen in Saitama.....

Sure he will be more isolated now! When you think of it, divorces are the biggest disaster to all children around the world. Now in this modern world, marriage don't last long and children are totally depressed and suffer the same as 'xenophobia' and feeling unsecured until they start their own lives. Such issues than proceed to further siblings. One think is for sure that shrinks are making big money and fat bank accounts. I don't blame this tad but his parents. 'From where all the street kids come from, just think about it. And parents are enjoying their good times with another partner.

In this case, however, sounds like the mother either just took off or didn't want the kids.

Yes, I am just making an assumption, but think about it. In Japan, mothers get the kids like 99.9% of the time. Almost ALWAYS the reason the father keeps the kids is because either okaa-san flew the coop or refused to take 'em.

That said, if this father was a particular horses-arse to the kid - it's too bad it came to this.

On the other hand, maybe the father had to work endless hours to make ends meet and had no time to spend with them. And, with the wifey gone, the kids spent all day/night in an isolated house, most likely, not even talking to each other (we all know how close siblings are here - in many a case).

Then, from a third perspective, perhaps the kid is a loon and pa didn't deserve even to be looked at cross-eyed. Who knows...

Ichikawa again. Is there something wrong with the place?

Must be! As for the mother not wanting to look after this kid she made a pretty good choice. Death penalty available for 17yr olds here?

Why did they need to make a point of "correspondence course student"? The majority of "correspondence course student" in the world are outstanding people. Why bring any negative feelings to people who are trying to learn. So this simply is another story of a spoiled brat killing one parent. Seems to happen here with more and more frequency.

Japan is screwed up... I mean, how many heinous crimes do you have to hear about in one day?

I'd say he is going to be even more isolated now. I think he will have company now where he is going :x

He will be isolated in jail for a while, but he will be released soon. There is not strict law for rapers/molesters in Japan. In China penalty is to be shot to death.

Japan is turning into a nation of do-nothing-mamas, father stabbers and child molesters.
