Are security guards paid to do their job, or are perhaps just volunteers? What is the point of having they there? Bandidos had outsmarted security guard and disgraced the security system around the country. By the way, are security guards equipped with 'toy guns?'

180000 yen split three ways for less than 10 minutes work works out to be about 600000 an hour each. beats 7-11.

The crime rate in Japan is going up steeply. Serious high profile crimes seem to take place more often than ever before. This poor guard had no gun of course as its illegal to carry fire arms for everyone except police (and criminals lol).

If these robbers are homeless, they might be able to move into the new housing rent free. They have enough money to last them a few months for food. I can imagine how long they had to watch the unmanned gas station to figure out when to rob it. Anyway, use a gun go to prison! If they are caught and given suspended sentences, I wouldn't be too surprised.

tjfrancis the report says 2 men stormed the security Guard and a driver waiting that actually does make 3. (stay away from banks and the economy).
spudman sounds nice but they didn`t work the full hour (If you can call robbery work) still got a pultery ¥60,000 for the risk they took.
maybe these guys need to learn from the guys who snached ¥69,000,000 from a locked security van a week ago, thats a better houly rate I`m sure.
Happy New Year to all!!!

Norinrad21:
I'm getting a little tired of your weekly single-word "Saitama" posts.
Fact: There are 32 crime stories shown on the JT Crime page right now.
Fact: Only one of the crimes took place in Saitama.
Fact: Saitama is Japan's 5th biggest prefecture by population. Part of the Greater Tokyo area, it has just under 7 million inhabitants (almost the same as London or NYC). With 1 in 18 Japanese living in Saitama, it's hardly surprising that it accounts for a fair share of crime in Japan.

If they had waited a few minutes for the security guard to wander off, they could've gotten away with just vandalism. And some robbery which they'll get a light sentence for. Not so smart.

the coppers better stop checking bicycles in Ibaraki and scoot on over then eh?

maff: thank for for your post to norinrad21, but remember, the uneducated don't know any better.

Just another weekend in Saitama.

I am also tired of these "Saitama" posts.

Yeah for armed robbery this was rather petty. But 4 people with a gun have no trouble handling any security guard - happens all the time around the world. And yeah, I got a few chuckles out of Saitama the first few times but that was it. =)
spudman at 12:23 AM JST - 29th December
it was three people.
FreeInJapan at 10:48 AM JST - 30th December
Ok, real quick, some of you knuckleheads need to read the article again because it was 3 PEOPLE NOT 4. Oh, and by the way... don't really know about all the supposed "Saitama" posts by norinrad21, but just figured I should point out to pizzaboy that you actually ASKED what city this occured in. Granted, Saitama is a prefecture, but still... you asked.
Anyway, me thinks some of you should grow a thicker skin and stop getting upset if someone talks a little trash about where you live, sheesh...
