This is actually nothing new. Gangs of punks have attacked people going to work in a similar manner. Japan always has had a strong criminal element. In the old days (not long ago) it was actually the criminal organizations that kept punks like this in check. Maybe things aren't going well for the yakuza these days; or maybe the economic mess that LDP rule has created is too much for them.

Whatever the case, Japan is no longer a safe country.

I live here and they creep out around 12am and I have complained for years. I can hear them for miles, leaving the office, in my home, to holding my son for an ease nighty comfort. Shocker the cops wont do anything.... There is nothing peaceful and safe about Osaka at this time. I thought about pulling a Batman with suit and ski mask but they would lock the gaijin up instead. Even if I did stop a robbery or snathching, lol.

I would use a squirt gun to ruin hair styles. Maybe water ballons...

Japanese cops are afraid of thse kids! They hide in their Koban's all night so they don't have to get off the worthless butts and work!

I'll bet the cops the driver called thought he was a drunk and ignored him. What a pathetic police force!

Where are the parents? What the hell are teens doing out at 4AM?

  • BBLeo at 02:32 PM JST - 6th October

This is evidence that more police patrols are required in the streets at night. Parents should also participate to prevent crimes, to see where their children go. Do teens have good parents or are they neglected? Is police 'dormant' at night?

"Use of accelerator pedal and first gear would get you out of trouble faster than the arrival of a policeman on a bicycle. Wouldn't it?"

More than likely it would get you into a jail cell. Being behind the wheel of a car that hits a pedestrian trumps all other infractions. At least in this country anyway.

Against a gang of kids, the time the storm troopers arrive they'll vanish.

Daito has good police patrols around the clock on its streets. I used to date a girl who lived out there and we would catch a taxi home at all hours and there would be police always visible. My guess is that they will catch these young punks soon. They are probably already known to the police.

I've seen the police patrols in Funabashi approach groups of lawless teenagers and the kids just tell the cops to P/off, which is exactly what they do. They jump back on their cubby bikes and go looking for illegally parked cars. Ridiculous!

True, true. But I'd hope even the dumbest of young jerks could figure out a car would do major damage to the jerk if it were moving and he was standing in front of it.

But the real question is, which is quicker, driving off or waiting for the police to arrive?

teens all round the world do crazy things. this is about the dangers of being a taxi driver at night. with the increase in violent crimes, taxi co.s should up the security of taxis. divider grills and security cameras perhaps? ooh maybe that would cost too much money. always money over safety.

Start doing akido or kenjutsu, it will be the last time they mess with you. It really helps.
