TOCHIGI —
Police on Tuesday arrested a 51-year-old lieutenant for having a sexual relationship with a woman who he had interviewed during a crime investigation in Tochigi Prefecture.
Tomhiro Kamioka, 51, was arrested for allegedly having sex with the woman in her 30s twice in March. She reported the case to police on March 26, and investigators interviewed Kamioka several times before deciding to charge him.
According to police, Kamioka asked the woman to meet him in the car park of a supermarket in Ashikaga City at midnight and had sex with her in her car. Police say he abused his authority as an officer of the law.
Kamioka admits knowing the woman but denies having a sexual relationship with her, police said.

If she had sex with him twice and never consented to it on both accounts, why didn't she report him after the first time? Something doesn't seem right with this...sounds like another case of wrongful accusation.

Cop done complete investigation inside out!
romulus3 at 09:06 PM JST - 18th June
everyone is missing the point. he called to meet her under the pretext of interrogating her about crime. read the Japanese reports or have someone translate it. he was off duty at the time. he abused his position of responsibility to get sexual favors. lets look at this...
Cop: I can make this all go away if you.....or you are looking at 28 days with out a lwayer, your family shamed, etc, starting from now. woman: I understand. Cop: groaaan... this is great! woman: (all this fuss for such a tiny thing...I am gonna settle his hash)

Yeah, what Rom said. Scary how much we agree on lately.

I agree with most posters on this. There is not much detail here other than he asked her to meet him at midnight, she went, and they had sex in her car.
If a cop, investigation or not, asked me to meet him at midnight hell! if I'm going to go. The answer would have been "No, if you want to meet me it will have to be tomorrow morning at the police station or ask me questions by phone."
It is strange that she reported it given the way it is reported in this article. So, there must be more to it like "forced to have sex." And if he intimidated her and she complied that i would think that woudl fall under "rape."

It's really interesting how some of the posters here fill in the blanks. First of all, there is no allegation of rape. A few of you have agreed with that statement. There is no indication that the women was a suspect of a crime, just that she was being interviewed during a crime investigation. She could have just been a witness. Unless anyone has further information about this case you can't really assume she was a suspect.
It seems to me that the officer was arrested for having a sexual relationship with someone he interviewed which is a breach of his authority. Had it been anyone else, nothing would have been done since consensual sex between adults isn't a crime. There is no indication that the sex was forced and no information whether or not the woman was charging him. It just says that she reported the case.
I believe Romulus stated it best as to not pee in your own living room.
Final assessment; the cop's an idiot.

Meet me the cop in a parking lot at midnight. Think I'm gonna interrogate you in a proper manner? I say he took advantage of his position and should take a pay cut and loss of position and sh!ty posting but I don't see it as a crime. She should have exercised common sense, something not big in this country, and questioned the meeting at that time in that place. This tells me she sort of consented in a way so she'll have to take half the blame as well.

Well, what throws it off is that she reported it and the statements are vague and to any normal preson do not make sense. My comments were all "if's" not based on any revelations. Perhaps without her "reporting it" it woudl be just as you say and no one would speculate.

This is like that movie with Michael Douglas and Sharon Stone.

In the end off the day the cop abused his authority to coerce a suspect to have sex with him. That is a form of rape. Imagine if you were at college and were summoned to your professors office were he says he suspects you of cheating on the test, true or not, and then asks you to meet him somewhere private. You may go voluntarily and may have sex without him physically forcing you but you almost certainly would not have if it was not for the threat of expulsion. Now turn the professor into a cop and the test into some crime and the expulsion into an arrest that could be even more humiliating or in the case of her being a witness to crime that could put her in danger of retaliation. Bushlover's comment is an all too common example of blaming the victim.

Rigs83's comment is an all too common example of judging before knowing the full story painting us a picture that has yet to be proven.

He did not kill her. He did not commit suicide with her. He did not steal her car. He did not rob her of her possesions. Obviously, there was allotting of pressure with the job. Moreover, I bet, even at thirty, she is very pretty.

I just have the feeling that something is wrong with this article. I still need more information to be able to understand. Why didn't she report this after the first time? Why did she wait for the second time before reporting? I can't just understand she was sexually abused two times by the same person. I think that the second time shouldn't have happend without her consent.
Ivespoken at 05:45 AM JST - 23rd June
He's "innocent" I tell you!! They weren't having sex in that car at night... alone ... in the dark. He was just trying to.... um.... well you know- investigate her! Even thou he could have done it inside the office.... with other people around.... and with some light that way he would have been able to write down whatever she had to say, LOL =D!
All in All- Since she didn't say anything the first time and he denies it... Just call it square and put it to rest. But I can't imagine how sex with some old, gray, wrinkly dude could have been fun!
