Yuuya Osawa
Tuesday 19th May, 08:53 AM JST
TOKYO —
Police on Monday put a missing 29-year-old man on a nationwide wanted list over the deaths of his 27-year-old wife and 3-year-old son in their Hachioji City apartment in late April. Police suspect Yuuya Osawa of killing his wife and son in the early hours of the morning on April 27. His wife died of head injuries believed to have been inflicted with a blood-stained spanner found in the apartment, and his son was found strangled to death.
Tochigi police found a car registered in Osawa’s name and personal belongings identified as his at the top of Kegon Falls in Nikko City in late April, and later found a shirt believed to be his at the bottom of the falls. Police searched for Osawa but he was never found, leading police to believe he faked his suicide.

Things like that happens everywhere in the world, but Greater Tokyo area seems to be the place in Japan. I'm always wondering, how usual these murder guys look on pictures. Anyway, Japan is still a safe place (compare to it's 127 million inhabitants), even safer than my country... and I live in a (kind of) safe country...
Moderator: Stay on topic please. How safe Japan is, compared to other countries, is not relevant to this particular discussion.

a guy bashes his wife's head in with a spanner/wrench, strangles his 3-year-old, fakes his own suicide and you guys are discussing semantics and the likelihood of him being able to pick up foreign women? god help us all

Perhaps he is faking his suicide. Until 'statue of limitations' is in force he will perhaps try to keep away from public cops can lick their fingers in a mean time. He is good fabricator of his own crime. Now cops it is up to you to get him. 'IT IS LIKE CATCH ME IF YOU CAN!'

I find it ironic that a man capable who killing his wife with a wrench and strangling his own defenseless toddler with his bare hands would be posing with a peace sign. and even more ironic that police would use that same image for their nationwide wanted poster.

Well, my resurrection kit is only effective in the first three hours of death. So I can't really see what I can say or do that is of much use in this case. RIP? What a jerk? Couldn't you just assume those?

In a way I have to appreciate that JT is keeping track of this kind of news. Imagine if some lady meets this kind of guy on a date. Especially the foreign ones as the Jladies will never go for this kind. This kind of single men target only foreign women. They will use them and kill them later? Quite scary.
Womanforwomen
It is amazing that you have such an insight to what Jladies would or would not do.(and how you presume foreign women are gullible and weak near or far from Japan)And how this guy would target foreign women....he obviously went for a Japanese woman in the first place.. so please stop writing these useless comments. This guy will be in hiding but if he is desperate he will take any opportunity open to him to survive..I think dating would be the last thing on his mind.

"if a spanner is a wrench, then why not have it say wrench? The one word is common usage, the other is not" Maybe for you Americans, but in New Zealand and Australia, and probably the UK as well, we use the word spanner, not wrench. If you told me to bring you a wrench i'd probably still bring you the wrench, but i'd be worried that i'd brought you the wrong thing. At least after reading this article i now know that a spanner is the same as a wrench, yay!

womanforwomen: first of all, I hope your 'forwomen' doesn't include me. no thanks. secondly, that comment of yours is the first stupidity I ever come across on JT.

Fingerprint and photograph all J Citizens and such guys can be found more quickly I believe. 99.9% crimes are done by J bustards like him.
Molenir at 01:56 AM JST - 20th May
The difference being, prior to reading the comments, I had no idea what a spanner was. If you had asked me for a spanner, I'd probably have brought you a screwdriver or some other long piece of metal.
Getting back to the story, I can't even imagine strangling your child like this guy evidently did. How anyone can conceive of placing their hands around the neck of an infant, and choking the life out of them, is simply beyond me.

Given the amount of time between the crime and pursuit I imagine that this guy will be caught about the same time the Hawker murder is.

European1 is right. time to fingerprint, photograph and take DNA of all Japanese. Then stop every J man and check their ID. Who knows how many unsolved crimes will be solved?

How sad we hear more of these stories too often, feel real sorry for little kid and mother. Hope they catch the father and make him pay for his crime!
