Tulips chopped up in Yokohama

YOKOHAMA —

Police said Monday about 48 tulips and other flowers planted in a park in Minami Ward, Yokohama, were found chopped up on Sunday morning. According to the city office that manages the park, a neighbor found the flowers, which had been raised by school children, chopped to pieces around 6:40 a.m. on Sunday.

The vandalism is the latest in a series that has included flower beds being destroyed in Gunma and Saitama this month.

It seems like a wave of deflowering crime is blooming across the country :)

In all honesty though, I'd much rather see a hundred stories like this than even one about a suicide, a murder, or some other senseless human tragedy!

Just keep your fingers off the cherry blossoms!

Bloom stealing is a gateway crime. Soon he'll be bloomer stealing and humming Arnold Layne, a nasty sort of person, they gave him time, doors bang - chain gang - he hates it, oh, Arnold Layne...don't do it again!

I saw a TV special on this. They had hidden cameras set up and filmed salarymen attacking the flowers with umbrellas.

Thanks Nessie. I'll be humming Arnold Layne all day now.

Good grief! If it's not people, it's flowers being chopped up!

Know any other country where the murder of 48 tulips would warrant a police investigation and newspaper headlines?

This story is being covered with the same intensity as the cute little Filipina that got chopped up a few weeks ago.

I wonder which story outrages the average Japanese more?
