Two men in ski masks rob convenience store in Saitama

SAITAMA —

Two men wearing ski masks and brandishing a knife and golf club robbed a convenience store on Sunday morning, getting away with around 100,000 yen. Police said four similar crimes have recently occurred in the prefecture.

Sunday’s robbery occurred around 1 a.m., when two men entered a Hidaka City convenience store and demanded money from the 47-year-old owner. He gave the robbers around 100,000 yen and they ran off. According to police, the two men were dressed in black sweatsuits and wearing dark green ski masks. One man was carrying a knife and the other a golf club.

About two hours later, a robbery occurred at a pachinko parlor, when two men wearing the same clothing robbed the establishment of an undisclosed amount of money. Between June 8 and 11, several similar robberies have occurred in the prefecture, and police are currently investigating the connection between the crimes.

That's strange, the ski season is long over and Saitama is hardly a skiing mecca anyway.
