Two university students injured in hit-and-run in Kanagawa
TOKYO —
Two university students were injured after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run incident in Ebina, Kanagawa Prefecture, on Sunday night.
Police said that Satoru Ishigamori, 20, and Tomohiro Kubota, 20, were hit by car at about 10:30 p.m. as they were returning home from their part-time job. The car kept going, TV Asahi reported. Ishigamori suffered a light injury and was able to call 119, but Kubota suffered head injuries and is in a critical condition, TV Asahi quoted police as saying.

Were the two in a residential area because people should not drive fast in those areas especially at night when it maybe hard to see folks wearing dark clothing.

@Maitake
I would say that the victims here are walking together after work.
The story is a bit lacking in details as of the moment (were they crossing the streeet? Did Ishigamori have even a partial look at the car that hit them?), but I do hope some updates would be added soon.
I do hope they recover soon.

I have a feeling that we are going to see this written in a few days:
"I was drunk at the time, but I don't remeber hitting anything."

It's only been less than a day. They're not going to have many details yet.

I hope the kid pulls through.
Why do people not stop? Dont they know that its worse if you dont stop? Its better if you stop, even if you are drunk you'll get a lighter sentence.

Lighter, but not light. And certainly not as light as just plain not getting caught. That is why they run.
Also, they will not be facing justice. They will be facing a set of rules of a system designed to trap the driver no matter what. These guys could have been dressed in dark gray, drunk out of their minds, lying on the street and actually wanting to die, and still the driver would be blamed 100 percent. That is another reason why they run.
Until the authorities look at each case individually and actually fairly and rationally determine what and who caused the accident instead of just making a snap decision that they were walking and you were driving, therefore its your fault, or just blame the alcohol no matter what, you can forget about too many people stopping.

I have a suspicion we may also hear "What I did was regrettable and unfortunate."
Hope those college kids are OK. Also hope they catch the garbage who did it and jail them for a long, long time.
