This, is not the only Marine who is having a court martial at this time because thereis another one at camp foster who is being tried for molestion of young lady who visited on base housing There are 2 others who have been busted for the same old charge robbing a taxi driver I wonder how all the Marines that will be moved to Guam (Not soon enough) behave because there is no SOFA (US Territory) I bet the Naval JAG office is working their A**'s off trying to keep up with the crime wave that goes on and on a daily basis This Marine should be sent away for a long period of time and then given a Dishonorable Discharge and be made to register a Sexual Predator I hope that another marine will not be dumb enough to go out and get drunk and blame the alcohol for for his Stupidty because that is starting to sound like a broken record because it's the most used excuse being used These crimes really bring a Disgrace to the people who wear the uniform of the US

This Marine will be given a fair trail, and severley punished if convicted. I hope the military makes an example out of him. The charges are very severe. The icing on the cake is the adultery charge. He is a married man attempting to have realations with a 14 year onld japanese national.

none of here on JT have any real knowledge the evidence against the man but the sole fact that he imposed himself on a girl of 14 leads me to believe Mr. Hadnott is about to wish he Didnott.

good on the USMC for sending this to trial. perhaps for the few who haven't quite got the message yet, it finally starts to register.

In the absence of a testifying plaintiff/victim/witness smack him once up each side of the head and tell him not to get caught again.

Let me get this staight. This guy was arrested by the J-Police, held in custody for 29 days, had the media remind us of the horrible rape back in 1997 of a minor and the changes that Japanese demanded of that incident because of that to the SOFA. The changes were made to the SOFA and this guy was in J-custody so as not to offend local sensibilities as to so how he would be protected if he was somehow protected by SOFA. The Japanese didn't even charge him with ANYTHING, and yet posters don't scream how inept the J-System is. Now this fool is back in the SOFA status he is charged with the book, the entire book, I'd say the Marines, though they may not be wanted by a vocal minority in Japan, know how to take care of criminal behavior in the ranks and the Japanese system, could use a lesson on this one. The Japanese let this guy go..........Don't forget that.

I'm with sailwind on the fact that the girl withdrew the charge and the Japanese police kicked him loose. That said a court-matial should put the issue to rest. I don't believe he is guilty of rape just gross misjudgement. He should be busted down a rank and given some unpleasant duties.

i would add to what sailwind pointed out. This marine was in japanese custody and this mean a 99.9% GUILTY conviction percentile average here in Japan, mind you..even if the girls parents decided not to press charges is basically bull.!!!!. I would point out thatit is a FACT that many japanese girls in Okinawa or on the main island date or have sex with men in uniform for ages now , without the knowledge of their parents, THIS IS A FACT. There is a genuine interest in foreign(gaijin) men. Many japanese girls "risk" it to be with a foreigner. Most japanese parents will oppose the "guess whos coming to dinner" scenario in an instant, This is mostly about what the neighbors might think if they knew that their INNOCENT japanese daughter was dating a foreigner, let alone a black dude(white, hispanic too). Look around people.. young , japanese girls are with short , short skirts, japanese salarymen are buying USED schoolgirls panties at $100 a pop..the younger the better, these men have daughters themselves, but the attitude is "well its NOT my daughter. This girl had the "itch" and she dreamed of not get caught and having this blown outta the water and "shaming" the family name.. remember peeps, the name and the face is EVERYTHING here. Yes Hadnott did a "R-KELLY", if he knew she was underage, and this he should be dealt with..BUT, it is a double standard, why is it OK for a japanese man to have "enjoh-kosai"(sex with minors)and this problem is NOT dealt with SEVERELY!!!!!. I am a Former Marine and i have live here for almost 20 years now and i am fed-up with the double standards. Now they want the GIs out becuase of a few BAD apples... ooooh really , let us NOT forget WHY we are still here in the 1st place...They seem to conveniently forget the root,Now that the japanese are enjoying peace since 1945 , they all have the "heiwa-baka" syndrome. If they really want us out...we all relocate elsewhere, and let them defend themselves from the chinese or the koreans.. i assure you behind allthe smiles of those government, they still long for the "spill" of japanese blood to call it even...finally it is sad that we have all tried , convicted, and sentance this marine based on what the media feeds us..WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!! LOOK AT THE BIG PICTURE

    Peace

Yeah, I see the pro-rape contingent is out of their holes again, and hiding behind the b.s. "anyone who disagrees with this hates the military" LIE.

It is illegal for men in their 30's to molest, seduce or to be so free of common sense and morality to allow themselves to be seduced by a teen. It doesn't matter that the girl refused to cooperate with the Okinawan prosecutors, Hadnott's already admitted his conduct and it looks like a slam dunk for prosecutors.

    telecaster

You probably shouldn't categorically label Sailwind and others' posts as 'pro-rape' since to my knowledge none of them have ever advocated or promoted rape or other forms of sexual assault. Not only is it illogical it also makes you simply look foolish.

    telecasterplayer:

Come on just because Damax wasn't quite as elloquente as needed, doesn't mean that he/she is pro-rape or that there is a pro-rape contingent. As before when I shut you down on this subject in the past, it was the anti military, flag burning crew like you who muddled the subjects together. When in fact it is possible to respect and admire the sacrifices our youth make in our country's defense by serving in the military, and hate those in military who damage it's reputation by committing these crimes. Pro-rape? You have this uncanny knack for spewing this kind of hate rhetoric. How about the Marine Court-Martial. Is the Judge, prosecutor and Defense Attorney pro-rape as well?

  • VoXman at 04:24 AM JST - 15th May

Ok so all US Bashers please repeat after me. "Though we deplore the actions of this one Marine, we appauld the Marine Corps for taking swift and judicous action against the individual on behalf of the teen. Even though the local Police and Prosecutors office failed you miserably."

I think thats a fair statement.

  • Nessie at 09:22 AM JST - 15th May

Still no word about what evidence they would be using if the girl has retracted the allegation. He should be courtmartialed for picking up an underaged girl, but the rape charge seems, given the lack of evidence presented here, to be unprovable.

  • VOR at 08:24 PM JST - 15th May

Nessie: I like the fact that the USMC is bringing this stoopid SOB to court but I think everyone would agree it would be a blow to the military justice system if he is convicted unfairly. So I am curious to know how certain you are about a lack of evidence?

This guy could end up going away for a very long time. If there is evidence to prove rape of a minor, then he deserves a very harsh sentence. If there isn't enough evidence to support a conviction, then I hope the military court system has enough integrity to set the record straight.

  • Samurai350 at 09:01 PM JST - 19th May

I am glad to see the USMC take up the case because she was a minor and he screw'd up. But I have not heard anyone comment as to why the girl and her parents all of a sudden backed away. Maybe because through the pressure of the investigation her parents learned that she was not exactly the innocent 14 year old girl she was being portrayed as.... Maybe she actually played her part in enticing the marine to believe, 1.she was older and 2. she was a willing participant.. So because of this, her and the parents decided it was best to drop the charges in order to save her "innocence" Again I do not condone his actions, But I truly believe there is more to her side of the incident than we will ever be told....
