"Ugbogu has told his lawyer he heard a ‘‘voice’’ ordering to him to stab someone and that his victim could have been anybody."

Nice try... Enjoy your next 15 years in Yokosuka City Prison...

Hope you like fish heads & rice and kneeling on concrete floors all day...

Tragically enough, there are "exceptions" made to the diet and living quarters of military prisoners in Japan. It not as "nice" as those in the US, but it's not as tough as the typical Japanese has it either.

Once again, I think this has more to do with the fact that the U.S. supplies the food and, therefore, pays for it. This was discussed in the Diet a few years ago as an unfair privilege of U.S. military prisoners until someone realized that it`s better for the U.S. to foot the bill.

As with a lot of the issues under frequent debate about the U.S./Japan Security Treaty etc., theres a lot of talk about change, change, change on the Japanese side til people realize that such change would involve Japan taking on a greater financial burden and responsibility for its own defense. Accordingly, most Japanese people would prefer to keep the status quo because its easier and cheaper.

Why was the AWOL sailor carrying a 20cm kitchen knife on his persons in the first place when he got into the Taxi. Self-defense or just paranoia the taxi driver was going to turn him into the US military authority ????

The intent was already i his hands beforer he got into the taxi. 1st degree manslaughter 25 yrs only rice and miso soup for twice a day meal . That is more than enough nutrition.

More importantly, how the hell does a Nigerian national get into the United States military? Is this part of the disturbing trend of taking in foreign soldiers to keep enlistment up? Sort of like the way the Romans would take barbarians into their military during the twilight of the Roman Empire. The United States already takes in soldiers from Central and South America, then grants them citizenship for service. I didn't realize they were combing the rest of the Third World for warm bodies. Very risky, especially when you consider the vast gulf in morals.

    Bebert,

This has been discussed, ad nauseum, on the other threads about this person. Resident Alien's, greencard holders, etc... whatever you want to call them, may join the U.S. Military.

15, 25 years? You're all being nice. I think life in a Japanese prison, living the same way the local national prisoners do, and the USA footing the entire bill sounds a bit more fair.
