    Wow, this is incredible. It's great to see how much the victims can participate in the justice system and have their voices heard. Many other countrie's can learn from this. Way to go Japan.

    Although this might sound good it will turn the courtroom into a three ring circus...good luck to the judge who has to make this happen in his court. People will be yelling and throwing stuff and it won't Necessarily be at the defendant...any bad call by the prosecution or judge and they might find a chair flying their way.

    They can also give opinions about the extent of the penalty … for which the defendants are indicted.

    It would be better if it were for when defendants are found to be guilty.

    To be introduced … is a system under which victims or bereaved families can demand compensation from a defendant ...

    Hopefully they can only demand compensation from a convicted person.

    How is it that the cabinet gets to decree when this starts or that it should even be done? Seems like something the parliament would have to pass, and even then it would be worthless until a test case got in front of the supreme court.
