It doesn't say the son was unemployed, as these articles usually do. I wonder, was his condition really so bad? I guess she was genki enough that she was worried that after otousan fell off the branch, she'd be spending her last days bringing the medicine to her invalid son, too?

Bottom line, she probably suspected that he would do teh same to her and she just got one step ahead of him. But she took the law into her own hands. "Jibun no te kara... Kuchinashino hana no...

Mistermarmy seems to be the only one with a serious comment here. If anything, this story is a condemnation of the social welfare system in this country. You have a sick old woman living with a chronically ill son (asthma) and a demented spouse. Where were the minimal social services to support such a household? It is certain that she lost her marbles. She is a proof. Will they lock her up, and hang her? I don't think so. A good fat lawyer will lodge plea of insanity and shrink will agree to that. Don't tell me that she will get suspended sentence also. This is not mercy killing because it wasn't 'terminal illness.' WHAT A BITCH OF MOM’

Samuraiiki hm? first off, it's 自らの手で and what is that second sentence suppose to be?

Doesn't anybody find this odd? She calls male relative saying she killed her son. He doesn't call the cops, he doesn't tell her to call the cops.
"You killed your son did you? Well, just sit tight I'll be over and see what the fuss is about..."
