Woman arrested for beating sister to death with rock in Yokohama

KANAGAWA —

Police on Sunday arrested a woman for killing her sister with a rock at their home in Yokohama on Saturday morning. Saeko Yoda, 44, was arrested for allegedly hitting her sister Sachiko, 39, several times with a rock while she slept, around 4:30 a.m.

According to police, the suspect appeared at a local police station with her lawyer around 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, saying she had killed her sister. Police found the victim in the house afterward. The suspect was quoted by police as saying, “We haven’t got on for a long time. On Friday night, we had a argument and I just lost it after that.”

The suspect lives with the victim and their 75-year-old father who was away from home for the day, police said.

The suspect lives with the victim and their father but he was away from home for the day, police said.

I doubt that is true now.

We keep hearing about how young kids are snapping these days because there's not enough moral education and goosestepping in Japanese schools, specially the goosestepping. 44 years is a pretty old kid, so I'm wondering what the goosesteppers have to say about this.

    Some14some,

Well said! Bad news is depressing, true, but maybe it helps to keep the majority of those who watch it on the straight and narrow.

    rjdjr,

"Too much crime news! Let's hear something positive about Japanese society once in a while."

No ! Lets not ! Because this is the reality of todays Japan ! Todays headlines in particular pretty much says it all...

"Women arrested fo beating sister to death with a rock"

"Women gets 15 years for killing husband"

"Woman arrested for trying to flush infant child down toilet"

This is the real world here in Japan and not some erratum. Nary a Monday goes by without the headlines screaming about another whacked weekend where the relatives and so called love ones have a go at each other ! This has truly become frightening stuff and nobody can deny the levels of escalation. Japan is without a doubt a society in decline. A nation with so many social and economic ills that we don't even know where to begin. I for one can't wait to get out ! Damn scary place if you ask me !

Too much crime news! Let's hear something positive about Japanese society once in a while.

An admirable sentiment. But these horrific stories about relatively innocuous people doing dreadful things to their relatives are definitely part of a very disturbing trend in Japan. Moreover, if the reports aren't about psycho family members, they're about corrupt, useless or pervy cops, so it's no wonder not much is getting done about all the bad stuff that's going on.

They say Japan has the lowest crime rate in the first world but I believe Japan has the highest family crime rate on earth.

  • serendipity628 at 01:29 AM JST - 29th April

Hmm, I guess you can look at it two ways...

Everyone else is doing it so I might as well, too.

    or

My life is pretty good compared to a lot of the people we read about here.

    Think I prefer the latter.

  • rjd_jr at 07:47 AM JST - 29th April

Actually the irony of my statement escapes a few. This is the crime section and this is based on Japan news so, no surprise, it's going to be filled with the latest crime news.

  • Ramazotti at 07:54 AM JST - 29th April

The reason why it makes the news in Japan is simply because it is news. What is news in Japan has become a daily routine in other countries. And that is pretty much true for any crime comitted.

this crime is just stupid. it's no sense for me. kill her own sister because you lost an argument it s stupid. if anyone did same where goes the world. the middle age japanese women become really scary. I don't understand but japan didn't change since i was a child. it's just than a lot of people became too selfish. but japan didn't became better of bader it's same. those case are isolate. but those case sadness is just than those people give a bad image of japanese socity.

Pretty sad. I've lost it with my older brother in the past, and we've had some knock-down-drag-outs, and there have been times I felt like I wanted to kill him (I even choked him once at a skating rink for some now-long-forgotten reason) when we were growing up, but ultimately, he is my brother and I love him dearly. We differ over many things, but I'd never want to kill him! Its sad that the woman and her sister in quyestion were well above 30.

    Lord help us!!!

Nessie you are correct a 44year old kid, it seems that a lot of japanese just don't mature.
