Actually I am interested in hearing how this really happened.

In 2006 yes, three years waiting for an arrest what were cops doing in a meantime? Police have suspected for a long time, and finally someone will get his promotion. Don't you think so?

jp women believe when they give birth life is over, that in one way or the other they have been turned into "obasans".these are reinforced through their social bonds, work culture among others.thus to escape this new prison, they think the way out is to kill their babies. that is why i spend much time with my boy till he gets 5

they think the way out is to kill their babies

all of them or is what you posted a mad generalization?

samsarks - what?? you don't trust the mother of your child? and if thats not disturbing enough, you're planning on letting him fend for himself as soon as he's five?? forgive me for (hopefully) misunderstanding...

i agree that this "trend" (for want of a better word) of mothers harming their children in Japan right now is frightening - however, a woman in Britain was convicted this week of organising her own daughters abduction. its not just Japan, but very very worrying all the same.

    Creepy?

I'm also a little disturbed by what samsarks has said. If he holds such incredible generalizations of Japanese women, why did he have a child with one?

I'm not so sure this is a new trend in Japan but rather it is recognized more. Regardless, it is a tragedy when a parent kills their child. From what little information is provided in the article, it will be interesting to see how this case shakes out.

police said they have recently determined through further investigation

I'd really be interested to see exactly what this means...

Sounds kind of thin. Wonder what else they've got beyond a theory. I don't like these revisionist crime theories, it reminds me of the "Dingo ate my baby!" story in which the woman lost her baby and was persecuted by the media and authorities until she was jailed.. but then it turned out, the dingo DID eat the baby. The point is, without some hard evidence, how can the authorities prosecute?

zoechan-i trust my wife but to an extent cos i dont even trust myself fully. Also,at 5 i will take my boy out of this country to stay with my relatives and did not say i will leave him to fend for himself. DerekJ-it is not an incredible generalization and i think if you could start asking some japanese women about it they will prove me right.

Either way she is responsible. The child should have been in the back seat of the car. Car seats for children clearly state there is a risk of suffocation from airbags if the seat is fitted in the front seat of the car.
