Why this is illegal is beyond imagining. It's legal to pay AV "actors" to perform the carnal act and film them and then distribute that internationally--the AV industry. But the private consensual acts of lonely or frisky seniors results in arrest , criminal penalty and social humiliation. Whatever inequalities or horrors prostitution may create are only magnified and marginalized by forcing it underground as an illegal activity.

I say leave her alone. Just make sure she makes her workers go and get STD checks and leave them be. I imagine that some of the older women who are workers are either former sex workers in their youth who may not have any other skills to live on in life and see an opportunity to do "what they used to do" and some who probably just need the money to get by.

Let me enlighten you. Japanese law works hand in hand with the Yakuza. That is how Soap parlors in almost every city offer prostitutes to customers with hardly any legal interference. This lady was doing her own business with no Yakuza protection. That cannot be permitted under Japanese law. Just write it down your diary ....

The negative reactions are part of the common ageism in the Japanese society. They mention pension because the society is assumed to expect the elderly to spend the pension for food, healthcare, elderly care houses, but not sex. Few people are enraged and feel disgusted with the promotion in the Japanese media of the idea that only very young girls are attractive and have sex appeal (a form of pedophilia). But old people are considered pervert in this society for spending money, especially pension funds, on sex. In fact the opposite is true. I have seen many elderly male patients who had symptoms of BPH only because of engorged prostate filled with secretions that could be emptied through sexual activity.

But in many of the elderly, in fact you can reduce the size of the engorged prostate by milking it, through TR (touche rectal) or more naturally, by sex! I totally don't support fornication in any matter. I will say to those who are disgusted by 70+ in age having sex, sex drive doesn't 100% die off. Also, Hefner is 86 years old. Do you see him as a nasty old dude having sex or do you see him as The Man because he has sex with women much younger than him?

Sex is part of human nature and experience, why do people think it is only something the young should have and do? When you reach 50, 60, 70 you are still going to want to have sex and you won't care if the young people snub their noses at it.

There are no brothels in Asakusa. If you are referring to what used to be Yoshiwara, it is in the Senzoku neighborhood of Taito ward, a good 20 minute walk north from Tawaramachi station or a 15 minute walk southeast from Minowa station.
