A 23-year-old woman was found dead in an apartment in Urayasu, Chiba prefecture, on Monday morning, police said.
According to police, a man called 110 at about 8 a.m. and reported that the woman who was staying with him was lying on her bed, bleeding from the chest. The woman was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later, NTV reported.
The man who called police said the woman was an ex-girlfriend from Sendai who was spending Golden Week with him. She had arrived on Sunday afternoon. The man told police he had spent Sunday night at another friend's place. He said he found the woman when he returned home Monday morning, NTV reported.

Even if the man is telling the truth, I don't favor his chances with the police here. At the very least, the police will destroy his life before finally accepting a mountain of evidence that it wasn't him (if it wasn't). And part of that process will be forcing him to confess while they hold him for weeks and make him suffer sleep dep.

Look, I know we should give this guy the benefit of the doubt but come on! She comes over to see him for GW but he stayed over at another friend's house? The cops will interrogate the truth out of him. Wonder how many minutes it will take for him to crack?

nudge - a less crappy story, and I would probably agree with you... Admitting they fought, he left the house in a rage and stayed with a friend, we still need to know more about the nature of the wound that killed the woman. On the other hand, such a crappy story in itself can be the proof that he is actually telling the truth.
