why is this article so focussed on the wife? The husband killed the boy! Guess the whacko mother gets more clicks on the page than a whacko father. Sad screwed up family. RIP little guy. RIP doesn't mean rigor mortus in potatoes.

No different from a grandmother's corpse kept under a kotatsu table for 3years. They were able to live with the smell everyday. Now a little boy kept in the fridge, my gosh! Japan needs help!

these people will not be sent to prison. they have made a mistake and will be given another chance by the japanese justice system. the parents are still quite young and will have the chance to have more children. get real people.

I cannot believe no one noticed this child missing until now. Something is mentally wrong with people who do these kinds of terrible, disgusting acts of violence. There is no logic or reasoning at all, yet somehow they always manage to justify what they did. And everytime we read these stories, one is as shocking as the next. It seems over time, crime against children is getting worse or maybe I'm just noticing the stories more often because I have kids. In any event, this is HORRIFIC

we don't know all the circumstances, Ono is a somewhat inaka part of Hyogo, the family may have been very reclusive: they may have had very few friends in town, they could have lied that junior had moved to live with his grandparents if any nosey person asked. He was 4 and probably never ever went to kindy or daycare and likely had no friends who missed him, they could have lied to anyone who did notice junior was gone that he had died. THey would have lied to the daughter too - did she got school? so many questions. Heck the kid could have been an unknown to the world, a prisoner in the house that never went out that no-one ever knew about...he may even have been a home birth that never registered...all wild speculation naturally but after reading this story: boy kept in vege drawer for 2 years??? after reading that I think any theory I throw up is entirely plausible! Very disturbing news story.

People don't be stupid don't judge a whole country on the act of 2 people this is very sad I agree but I was born and raised in the U.S. and if you want to judge the many on the few you should look at your own country befor you talk trash. I have 4 kids and I whould not even consider raising them in the U.S. today there is 100 kids a day killed there and they have only 2 times more people then Japan. so please think before you speak and take a look at yourself befor you talk bad about others.

daaks, the latest figures I have seen are 2,000 a year, not your 36,500. This is still six times the rate in Japan.
