paisley-do not side with japanese women.i have a j-wife and a 5 month old boy.she also talks about stress of taking care of the kid.even though she is not working and stays at home sending mails over her phone.i work from 11am to 8pm.i do everything in the house in the morning an d after coming from work exhausted i wake up during the nite twice to bottle feed my boy with her sleeping -saying she cant hear the boy crying.it tells you how lazy they are.my mom had 7 children and she took care of us all and even worked along side.at times i stay off work just help her with her so called stress.that is jp women for you.any way this mother should face the full riguors of the law hich i know will not happen under the disguise of psycological tests and all that
****There is no excuse for this sort of thing; not even insanity. I've been stressed for 80 years but never had the urge to kill a kid. Have had urges a few times to kick ones ass but never gave in to it.
I think this has to do directly with the system the Japanese society is built on, the idea of perfectionism, their recent past, their low birthrate, all these situations affect the japanese people, probably in ways we cant understand. I think it has little to do with selfishness.
Another reason why the Japanese idea of "a woman's life ends at marriage" is outdated and wrong. People need to do more than just sit in the house all day with no social interaction other than their keitai.
The woman admitted strangling her son, saying: “I was tired from taking care of him, so I strangled him with a cord."
I have to agree with hakujinsensei's point above. Younger Japanese have been raised soft and lazy. When they are finally released out from under their parents' wings and confronted with the "stress" of everyday life, raising children, looking for a job, etc. many just fall to pieces.
This is a horrible news. I just wonder if this stressed out mother in Fukuoka did not have good relations with her own parents? If you have good parents (granma and granpa) they can really help when the mother is not just physically tired of taking care of her baby but also psycologically tired. RIP little 4 year old!
Old school Japanese women were truly well disciplined, strong, mature and ready for the realities of life.
I agree with hakujisensei's views and shiuu's view but i also agree with paisley's remark about the loving support, warmth and deep understanding of younger and inexperienced Japanese wives who's weaknesses should be understood with patience and active affection and love.
My wife is Japanese too. Weak and tiny who gets easily stressed by this stressful life but trust me, LOVE and understanding on a deep soul level empowers them and stimulates them in highly positive ways.
So Paisley, i like your comment.
About this child killing woman from Fukuoka, this is a bit extreme case and i really hope she gets deserved life time in prison. Society doesn't really need child killers around.
Happy New Year to all people who commented here.
Sorry but many airlines will do this. As fuel has fallen from 143 to 36 dollars a barrel, fuel charges cannot remain this high. The airlines will lower the fuel charges and increase the fares. People expecting cheaper travel off JAL and ANA are dreaming.
After reading the sheer numbers of people in Japan killing people lately I am shocked at what is going on. I lived in Japan through the 80's and heard of these instances maybe once a year, now they are weekly occurences. The economic woes of the 90's seemed to have sparked a total loss in humanity and the economic boom of the 80's spawned a totally spoiled group of women that are used to getting whatever they want.I believe that they should take a look at their American counterparts. Who work outside the home and do 90% of household chores and child rearing on top of it. To me any woman that gets to stay at home with only the household chores and children(and usually only 1 in Japan!) to worry about is lucky and should try seeing how women in the rest of the world work and take care of their families and quit pissing and moaning about stress when all they have to do is take care of the house, now if they are working outside the home as well that is a different story...I think that the TOTALLY LIGHT sentences that murderers receive also lends to the problem, kill a child get 6 years? why not? If they faced life or death as they do in America they might decide strangling little Yoshi is not the way out after all..
Blame the media - the crime/murder rates probably haven't changed much, but the media's handling of them has, particularly English reporting. JT is a prime example of this. Japan is still relatively safe place, especially re violent crime.
I also would like to know what J-mothers are doing (or not doing) that makes childrearing so tiring and unbearable here. I have heard countless stories from gaijin-fathers about how their wives have it so easy but yet they don't do anything around the house and do nothing but complain about how tiring it is to take care of one kid.
I also would like to know more about how J-mothers bully each other.
Sorry, but Japan sounds like a frightening place to have and raise a child.

samsarks Your situation might be bad, but you don't know anything about this woman's life. Don't judge till you know.

Just for the record, my j-wife is a perfect mother and complains only about -- me. And I can take the stress.
Again, this excuse "I was tired from taking care of him, so I strangled him with a cord” is totally mental.
