"Gambling in Japan is generally illegal"
Heh, heh, heh...
paulinusa
Paraphrasing the quote from "Casablanca" : "I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in Japan".

After that, the J cops who arrested him went to pachinko and the horse race track for some much needed relaxation
tmarie
So was Yu in on this?
GalapagosnoGairaishu
It seems like every famous person has a rotten family member.
Aly Rustom
Why is THAT illegal, but betting on horse races and pachinko isn't.
Wouldn't it be ironic if the cops who arrested him did the above afterwards for some rest and recreation??
DaDude
Yu was a yanki too back in his jr high/high school days as well according to a friend of mine who rode scooters with him. The only reason this is news is because his brother is famous. Plenty of illegal gambling going on and non-newsworthy arrests
tmarie
All the boys were Yanki. Darvish himself was in trouble a lot growing up. No shockers about the brother and certainly not the first time this family has been in the news for such things.
toshiko
Yu have beebn on DL for many months. He is not Yankees. He is a Rangers. Missed a chance to be on ALWesr champ games against Astros and we don't consider that as troubled.

Toshiko,
I believe commentors are talking about Yu being a yanki as in a young juvenile delinquent while growing up, not the baseball team the Yankees, an altogether different group of delinquents.

You, too, Read the article. Sho is in trouble, not Yu.

I sincerely hope that these gambling scandals, along with the special facilities required, the extra costs and the limited global appeal, all work to diminish the prospects of baseball returning to the Olympics. Just does not belong.

Toshiko, read Dadude's comment above. He mentions that both Sho and his brother Yu were 'yanki' when they were kids.
Of course Yu is doing well now.
It must be hard on Sho to have no particular outstanding talent.

I have learned not to tangle with Toshiko on any baseball related stories... especially in any season that the Angels don't make the playoffs.
DaDude
Hey, don't go there with the Angels. They'll be back next year!
