Kabuki is great! But no one seems to know where the word "kabuki" comes from. I hear they use the word with politics in some places. "Kabuki politics."
Me? I love Kabuki but think that Kyogen is highly underrated. I am not talking about Noh-Kyogen, but the type of Kyogen that stands alone. That actually precedes Noh historically. Came from China and was called Saru-gaku . . . .
Japan is the most unique country in the whole world, if you ask me.
@TheGreatSantini: At today's Kabuki performance in San Francisco (which, btw, was absolutely amazing, transformative, and left me utterly breathless wanting more), we learned from the program that "taken from the verb "kabuku" (meaning to tilt forward), kabuki figuratively signifies customs or behaviors that are unconventional, departing from tradition and attracting attention." Seattle, Portland, and Denver audiences are in for an unforgetable experience.

Just because you love hamburgers doesn't mean you have to go meet the cows.

I'm going with friends to see the kabuki performance Saturday afternoon in San Francisco at SFSU - can't wait! A very rare treat to be sure.
