Haeundae, the movie, is about a tsunami hitting that beach and Pusan. I really wished to go once to Pusan's film festival, one of the world's most prestiguous film festivals. And when is that movie 'I come with the rain' finally coming out...I have been waiting eagerly for a year now!
Went to Haeundae earlier this year. It has quite a nice view, but I wouldn't like to be there during the summer with the whole Korean population. Busan was quite nice, easy to get about and close enough for a one-day trip to Bulguksa, the Shilla version of Nara. And everything's cheap.
Haeundae is great. Good party scene. Follow the other posts tips and go during the right times of the year. Big tip: stay away from Texas Street and other dubious areas if you wanna keep your shirt on.

Was the disaster film “Haeundae" about that thing they call a car?

I was there last year man. What a party.
Haeundae is the name of the beach where the festival is held, but i doubt that's why they called the movie like that.
