Where there's a Will

TOKYO —

Chaos ensued at the recent Japan premiere of Will Smith’s newest flick “Hancock,” as a sudden gust of wind blew the life-sized inflatable car that Smith had planned to hoist overhead in a photo op up into the sky and over to nearby Suidobashi station. The star joked that his super powers were to blame for the typhoon-like breeze, but described his character in the movie as a “super hero that likes to hit the sake… he’s not exactly focused.”

In spite of the weather, Smith greeted cheering audiences together with co-star Charlize Theron and fan Yokozuna Asashoryu, who he had first met at the “Men In Black 2” premiere. Asashoryu, who flew from Beijing for the event, presented the two stars with sumo paraphernalia and a lacquer dish, looked rather star-struck by the icy blonde Theron, but commented that he thought she was too tall.

The chemistry between Smith and Theron while making the film was key, said the actors, who first worked together on “The Legend of Bagger Vance” in 2000. After Smith commented that the pair has matured over the years, Theron shot back, “We may dress better, but we still act the same.”

Explained Smith, “When you have fun making a film, it shows on screen. We have to have fun to let the audience feel that energy.” Smith promised audiences that he would continue to feature surprise as an important element in his films, explaining to the swooning crowd that, “When you come to a movie theater, I want to keep you guessing.” Theron smiled coyly, “I just want to look hot.” (Sarah Noorbakhsh/Metropolis)

Theron smiled coyly, “I just want to look hot.”

then how about starting modeling? or x movies?

I think this is the wrong attitude, and the public goes with it. I wanna see a hot babe, I just watch a porn. I want more from a top star actress than just being decorative

timeon, she was just joking. If you haven't already, you should watch her Academy Award winning performance in "Monster". Now that's acting. Hard to believe it's the same woman.

Hancock was a fun movie. Some unexpected bits kept it pretty interesting.

terebiko, I hope you're right. I haven't seen Monster, I'll give it a try then. He didn't impress me in other movies I've watched.

Hancock was so so. It did make a lot of money thanks to Will Smith but it was still underwhelming.

I disagree with gamera, I thought this movie was a good vehicle for Will Smith's talents. I didn't feel ripped off like I did when I saw the X-files movie (or should we say TV eposide...and a bad one at that).

Will smith is rapidly becoming the poster boy for bloated, overdone computer generated movies. Guaranteed each year he'll come out with yet another computer generated movie.
