Grand prix winner Mitzuki Yamamoto
Monday 27th July, 12:50 PM JST
TOKYO —
An 18-year-old student is the winner of the first Tokyo Supermodel Contest, an event organized by CanCam and three other popular women’s fashion magazines. The grand prize was awarded Sunday to 18-year-old Mitzuki Yamamoto from Fukuoka, a slender 167-cm-tall high school student who was chosen out of 5,551 candidates.
Surrounded by AneCan veterans Yuri Ebihara, 29, and Moe Oshikiri, 29, the young model at first seemed worried. “Is it alright for me to stand up here?” she asked nervously. She later expressed her strong desire to take up an acting career.
Model and actress Anne, 23, smiled as she advised Yamamoto, “It may be difficult, but in the end, it’s really worth it.” Ebihara cautioned the budding model to watch out for paparazzi

Hey Presto3435
This girl is not a "... healthy looking girl ...", she needs at least an extra 3-4kg of muscle before she could be considered "healthy looking".
I would not want to see her modelling swimsuits, her pelvis would protrude in ways you just don`t want to look at. Not to mention the jutting rib cage.

In times and places where obesity has become the norm, "Healthy looking" has now a totally different meaning apparently.

Wow, let's generalize here shall we? Those of us who have spent time in Japan have noticed that "in general" there are alot more slimmer girls in Japan than in the west, using the U.S. as an example. Some of us have also noticed that when a J-girl is really anorexic she doesn't look "skinny", she looks like a half dead stick figure. Finally, no country in the world is forced to accept customs, rules or even laws which prevail in other countries so your last comment is really dumb.

I have been said 1000 times this expression "This is Japan, it is different." So yes, in a normal world, this woman is anorexic, but in Japan she is a supermodel.

PS. she looks as if she has spent 5 years in a German Jewish camp.

Seems some of you guys here are just too unhappy for others' success...ne...? Every profession has a rule and hers is just simple, be pretty and skinny.

Pretty and skinny. I feel as sorry for these people as I do for sumo wrestlers. Of course there are professional burdens we must bear, but there is a point at which a body does not function correctly. Bone girls bother me more than sumo wrestlers, but I have sympathy for both.
Seems like a heck of a price to pay. She needs a sandwich, extra mayo and cheese.

Actually catwalk models have to be plain so that they can be transformed with make up. Good luck to her!

If a man is that skinny, he can never be a supermodel. My ideal for a supermodel is Kotoshu. However, women are pressed into becoming needles to become supermodels.

Her face doesn't seem too special... We'll see when the catwalk stylists have a go at her....

Hey, I'm sure she eats the same amount or more than any of you. I eat the same amount as my husband and sometimes more. I'm still skinner than him.

It's a boy with long hair and girl clothes... What a sick world only depends on so-called beauty and fame... it's disgusting. Anyway, congrat to win the contest Mitzuki-chan...
