22 female freelance TV presenters to hold poetry reading on stage

TOKYO —

Twenty-two female freelance TV presenters will hold a poetry reading session on stage in Tokyo from Friday night. Mao Kobayashi, 26, Aiko Kaito, 24, and others, who appear in popular TV variety programs, will read poems at Aoyama Theater.

Kobayashi said, “Unlike news reporting, it’s difficult to read poetry expressing emotions through your voice. During rehearsal, the waiting room behind the stage is something like a girls’ school.”

The event, called “Seasons,” will be held from Friday to Sunday.

They should put what time they are showing this. That way I can avoid it.

If its cute, who cares what comes out of its mouth. Hey, I hear Doraemon has a good shot at being the next PM. Just waiting on his party the CCC (Cute Cartoon Characters) to nominate him.

I guess poetry is usually expressed through eye-contact in Japan. In which case, these ladies probably get plenty.

it’s difficult to read poetry expressing emotions through your voice

Isn't it also difficult to express emotions when you're squeaking like a five year-old?

I don't understand the level of negativity and just plain rudeness amongst the commentors on this site.

If you see a news story that doesn't appeal to you, don't bother with it. What is it that makes you feel the need to make yourself look cool by writing a smartarse comment?

    I don't see the point.

What's the deal with showing peace signs on pictures in Japan?

As for the reading of poetry; not interested.

The peace sign is in their genes, it seems. Most can't help but do it, even boys sometimes.

So long as you can hit mute.... I can't picture hearing 'Paradise Lost' in a 3-year-old's voice.
