TOKYO —

American singer Mariah Carey, 38, kept 5,000 fans waiting for one hour before she showed up for a 10-minute event in Venus Fort in Tokyo on Sunday afternoon. Carey, who sang at the MTV Video Awards in Saitama on Saturday night, attended a special event held in a church inside to celebrate with newly married couples.

Carey later went shopping at a toy store. Someone asked the newly married Carey how to find the right partner and she replied, “If you pray to God, you will find the one.” At the event, she gave a “Mariah Chair” to Venus Fort for couples.

I hear she was late because she was in the bullpen fine-tuning her slider for her start later this week.

I'm looking forward to the next Mariah Carey update tomorrow!

Some people might say it is better than a 10 minute wait for a 1 hour event with her...

5,000 fans??? You've gotta be kidding me!! Let's all run down to Odaiba and start taking shots of the back of heads with our keitai!! Raise your arm higher, maybe you can get an even more blurred shot of heads. Oh, why was the walking-talking-singing "Dutch wife" late?

I wrote in another article about the intelligence of people who gather to see 'celebrities'

Mariah: "I call this number 'Make you wait long time'"

    Papa, LOL. That's the spirit.

Good thing the headline doesn't do any editorializing, or anything. I guess she's getting into practice of having her husband beg for an hour for 10 minutes of "quality time."

Someone asked the newly married Carey how to find the right partner and she replied, “If you pray to God, you will find the one.”

Apparently he's not as good for punctuality issues.

Doesn't she have a habit of showing up late to these events in Japan?

“If you pray to God, you will find the one.” what she forgot to add was that having a huge rack doesn't hurt

She showed up at USJ about 5 years ago. I happened to be there that day. After waiting 40 minutes past the scheduled start time, I gave up and had some burgers instead.

Really don't care what this woman or her fans do with their free time but saw the photo and remembered hearing somewhere she won't allow photos featuring the left side of her face. Looks like it's true.

Fine tuning her slider? Actually, I heard that before coming to Japan she had some discussions with Goose Gossage regarding pitching inside. My money is that she hits a batter (ala Nolan Ryan). The batter then charges the mound (ala Robin Ventura). In response to this, Mariah gets the batter in a headlock (ala Nolan Ryan) but instead of punching she suffocates the poor guy.

Only one hour? I used to work above Tower Records 13 years ago and she was much later than that but could not escape after the allotted 30 minutes as the crowd almost rioted when they found she was due to leave. Piccadilly Circus and Regent Street were closed.

This was a few days after Lady Di had to fight past less than 10 people on her way into the Cafe Royale - only joking no fight, there were many times more police and security than well wishers

5,000 fans! Wow she beat Yon-sama.. who had a measly 3,000 fans waiting for him at the airport on Friday.

if your stupid enough to wait then you get what you deserve. On another note she is still georgeous

    KenjiYamamoto

nah, she's a mouse. can't she change the subject from time to time in her songs? her obsession would make a would-be desirable (whatever she likes) turn and wretch...

60 mins times 5,000 fans is 300,000 minutes of people's lives wasted because she can't be bothered to get her personal act together.
