TOKYO —
Actor B-Saku Sato, 59, who recently had surgery for stomach cancer, on Thursday appeared at a press conference to introduce his annual comedy stage play “Tomadoi no Nichiyobi.” Sato is directing the play, while Takeshi Masu, 53, will take over Sato’s role in the comedy.
Sato said, “I concentrated all my energy on recovering from cancer because I wanted to work again on the stage. I was very happy that my wife took care of me by cooking everyday, which she doesn’t do usually. But I won’t retire as an actor yet.”
Actress and ex-Morning Musume leader Yuko Nakazawa, 35, joked: “With Mr Masu taking over Sato’s role as my dad, I now have a handsome father.”
The story takes place in an apartment where the father (Masu) and his engaged daughter (Nakazawa) get into one trouble after another. The script was written by popular comedy writer Koki Miatani. The play will be performed in Kyoto on Aug 23 and 24, Niigata on Aug 29 and 30, and Tokyo from Sept 1 to 15.

Great for him as this is one of the more deadly cancers.
