Sazae is a domestic goddess and one of only two Japanese TV shows I could ever possibly sit through - the other being Chibi Maruko-chan right before.
Want to hone your Japanese skills but cant understand the zany and hilarious (where is that sarcasm smilie?) world of Osaka-ben laden Manzai? Watch Sazae and you will start to pick up lots of stuff that you can use in practical situations without offending the locals. Great show with some very funny moments.
Sazae-san is a very good show and I have always enjoyed watching it. Sometimes the jokes are a little corny, but that is ok. It is a show the whole family can enjoy. Everyone should check it out!
I wholeheartedly agree - Sazae-san is one of the few amusing programs on Japanese TV and one of the few "gaijins" with a little language ability can understand - and learn from......
chuckers: Sazae-san is supposed to be 27 or 28 years old. Mizuki Arisa, I think, is 30 years old? She looks really good for her age, though, and much more sophisticated-looking than Sazae-san..
Sazae-san is great for Japanese study because it spans 3 generations as well as men's and women's Japanese -- much more authentic than your typical textbook. It's also seasonal, so watching it regularly will expose you to vocabulary related to current cultural celebrations.

Sazae-san is one of the very few things worth watching on television (great for kids), and Arisa Mizuki is beautiful. Looking forward to seeing this!

Mizuki should be perfect as Sazae.

Oh great, yet another dramatization of an animation/comic.
Looks like Japan has adopted the lazy Hollywood formula of the past few years.

A live version of the anime has been done before about 15 years ago with Asano Atuko in the lead.
I think Mizuki Arisa is a bit young to be playing Sazae-san.

I agree with the other posters that Sazae-san is a good TV program, especially for Japanese language learning. Atashinchi is another one.

There's a way better photo of Mizuki as Sazae san on the July 31 page of japan-zone.com
