Saki Fukuda gets into character for her drama “Maid Detective.”
Friday 26th June, 04:00 AM JST
TOKYO —
Saki Fukuda, 18, who is rapidly advancing in her acting career, will release her new single, “Asu e no Hikari” on Aug 12. This song will be used within the episodes of the Friday night drama on TV Asahi, “Maid Detective.” Fukuda plays the lead role of a detective who works undercover as a maid in a wealthy household where a murder has occurred.
This will be Fukuda’s first single in approximately 2 years and 5 months, and the first since signing with EMI Music Japan. The song has a melancholy melody that is reminiscent of songs from the 1980s, which is paired with an upbeat electro pop sound. In the Friday night drama, the song will play in the climax scenes of each episode where Fukuda, as the protagonist Aoi Wakatsuki, bursts out with her signature maid’s phrase, “Allow me to clean up the dirt from this evil.”
The limited edition single will come with a different design and a DVD containing the music video for the single and other bonus scenes such as behind-the-scenes footage. It will also come with a cell phone strap-cum-cleaner that is shaped after the weapon that Wakatsuki uses in the TV show, and a ticket to the CD’s upcoming release event.

An 18 year-old in a maid uniform -- should be a big hit in Japan. Wonder how long it took some "creative" department to come up with this concept?

As bizarre as this drama sounds, I forsee it being a hit with the otaku crowd, which means that Hollywood (starving for ideas) may try to create their own version of it... Maybe with Paris Hilton as the main maid. I would see that for the irony alone.
I must be getting old. Can no one in this world come up with an interesting story for a Japanese TV show?

maid ninja , ninja detective, maid chinpira (must be directed by Miike) maid samurai, samurai detective, maid in china.
While most Japanese people I know are glued to the TV when they are not working,I can't see anything fabulous coming out for a while yet.

Oh please, don't you get tired of these things.
It seems like the fish and rice diet does not help in becoming more creative.

I can already guess the plot of the first episode. The maid will find a cigarette butt in a flowerpot. To any normal maid it would simply be a cigarette butt, but for Wakatsuki it will be the start of an amazing hunt for a bad guy. As she is a maid, no one will believe her theories or give her any respect. But being a strong minded young woman, this won`t deter her though ...

well I, for one, can hardly wait

Meh, this is why I hardly watch Japanese TV or films... very few actors are worth watching if any. Someone needs to open up a REAL acting school Japan so we can see some real quality show up sometime. "I wanna work in hollywood" lines just ain't gonna work if you can't at least be on par with US/British TV actors. Need better directors too. But maybe the reason this tripe is released constantly on TV and (lol movies) is low budget costs... doesn't seem to affect the UK televised programs from having good actors though.

Well, there was "my mother the car" and "mr ed" so this should be otaku heaven.

This sounds like something that Lucy and Ethel would try, and it would go horribly wrong.

I wish she would come to my place and tidy things up a bit while she is looking for clues.
