Aki Hoshino retires from the races

Aki Hoshino retires from the races
Aki Hoshino

TOKYO —

Aki Hoshino, 32, spent her last day at the races Sunday, finishing her run as co-host on the Fuji TV horse racing show “Minna no Keiba” with the famous Arima Kinen grand prix race.

While Hoshino’s favorite Air Shady came in third in the race and she didn’t quite end her run on a high note, her eyes sparkled as she received a special thank you bouquet from host Shunichi Kawai.

Looking back at her two-year run on the show, she smiled and reflected, “I started out knowing nothing about horse racing, and this taught me so much about how interesting it can be. Even though I will no longer be host, I’ll still keep cheering everyone on at the races.”

From Jan 10, the show will air again as “Minna no KEIBA,” with Maoki Yuki taking over Hoshino’s place.

I watched this show a few times. Was typically J-take on a day at the races - rubbish compared to mcoverage i have seen in other countries. Although she is better looking than (say) Clare Balding or John McCririck.

To me, she represents the typical airhead in Japan....

"MINNA no keiba" - sorry, not mine. A group of horses running around, utterly fascinating.

Ms. Hoshino on the other hand : ) Unfortunately that's not a very good picture of her

Agreed. She's like the typical blonde bimbo; just without the blonde hair.

Which is everythign that is wrong with Japanese TV - hire someone with no clue. Reminds me if the dungbat girls that "announce" for things like K1 and boxing. The "car" girls drive me insane too!

i'm sure she put out like a trooper back in the day. now, however, i'm sure she has the kekkon hunting plague like your wouldn't believe

unless, of course, she's just living her life, in which case i'm in search of her phone number

I bet the replacement is actually Maomi Yuuki(優木まおみ).
