Aki Hoshino to co-host new interview show on NHK
Entertainment ( 21 )
TOKYO —
“How do you move Mount Fuji?” “How many telephone poles are there in Japan?” These are just a few of the types of questions that contestants will have to answer on NHK’s new show “Socrates no jinji” or “Socrates’ Human Resources,” which will be co-hosted by Aki Hoshino, 32, and actor-comedians Kyotaka Nambara, 44, and Junji Takada, 62.
The interviewers are not looking for the correct answer but instead want to see the contestant’s lateral thinking or problem solving skills in action. The contestants will be judged successful or not in their interview by human resources personnel using questions actually asked in past interviews.
Various celebrities will be interviewed and NHK news presenter Aika Kanda, 28, takes the test in the first episode. She spoke of her own job-hunting experience when she said: “I sat for interviews at all the major broadcasters, but NHK was the only one I passed. My first preference was Nippon Television and my second was Fuji TV.”
The program is said to have been inspired by actual recruiting practices by Microsoft and other leading global firms. The show was well received when it aired in September last year and will now become a regular program.
Hoshino said: “It’s NHK, so I won’t be wearing anything too racy. If you want to see that, watch some of my other shows later in the night.” Takada said: “I think a bit of cleavage would be acceptable. It’s not like she’s flashing her nipples or anything.”
“Socrates no jinji” airs on Thursday nights at 10 p.m. starting on April 2.

"How do you move Mount Fuji?"
If you could move it, where would you move it to?
"I think a bit of cleavage would be acceptable."
I've seen cleavage on NHK before.

The show would be a definite hit if she were always in a bikini.

Not the best of Aki's pics....certainly the attire isn't what I'm normally used to seeing her wear....

She's vaguely skanky and not at all my type.

What on earth is that 80s teatowel she's wearing in the JT pic?
As for telegraph poles - stuff them - where are the lampposts to light the darkened streets?

I disagree, Unagi. Distinctively skanky.

Junji Takada's a riot. Loved watching him on Genki ga deru terebi. Aki is cute, but there's something about her nose, it seems too big, or wide... Not sure why, just don't like it. I think this show is going to be a failure anyway. They should make Zen-like questions. You know, "If a tree fell in the forest, and no one was around, would it make a sound?", those kind of questions. Come to think of it, I wouldn't watch that either.

Geez...she must be running low on $....or getting old.

Yikes.. she's 31 and looks like a creepy 14 year old tart. How about, "no" cleavage until she can pass for older than 20?
Sarge, "I've seen cleavage on NHK before."
Sure, on the dohyo when Yamamotoyama and Iwakiyama are up.

Aki is the best. She deserves all the money they can pay her, she's so gifted at lifting spirits and making us feel cheerful in these times.

As a bonafide hustla, I have to say it's great to have her on the telly. Much better than the "news" about the silly going-ons of Japanese politics.

her knees look a bit aged from overuse.

Her legs have always looked awful. I would think she would have gotten a surgeon to do something about that by now.
