Akina kicks off cheerleading musical in Tokyo

TOKYO —

Singer Akina, 23, kicked off her first musical at the New National Theater in Tokyo over the weekend.

The musical, “Nakano Blondys,” is about a group of cheerleaders. Akina said, “The practice for cheerleading is tough, and we were really sore afterwards. I was so nervous at first, but we all had a good time.”

The musical will run through Dec 25.
